I remember this guy... And believe America's about ripe enough today for someone just like him. Only more vile and much more extreme. Nothing will top the You Are/You Are NOT The Father stuff though in my mind. That was some interesting television.
I think half of America is him. lol On a sidenote, I was watching an ancient episode of Andy Griffith and Barney Fife asks if Morton Downey was going to replace him as a singer... I had to look that up. I had no idea Morton Downey, Jr.'s dad was a famous singer/pianist. They apparently called him "The Irish Nightingale". lol. More on-topic, I couldn't stand any of these talk shows. It was like they created these shows to make people dumber. I think they originally started like a normal talk-show, but then they realized a large segment of the population went for the crazy, so they tried to get crazier and crazier.
I didn't know that either about his father. I found "Where the River Shannon Flows" a moment ago. I have to say, for that era, it's pretty good. And yeah, I don't think you're wrong about half of America. I'm afraid someone's going to come along and... nm.
I spit my drink when he started singing in this clip... it just hits you like a Category 5. It starts around 1:04, but wait for it... let it build up... don't fast forward. lol
I remember Jose Luis sin censura. That show was Springer on steroids. I was lalways looking forwaed for the fans to swing on the guests.
To their defense the guest were narrated to be despicable scumbags. Cholos were just serving justice to the woman beaters/abusers.
This show used to air late nights on channel 13. He had a "feud" with Jerry Springer who had a guest appearance.
I didn't like it when it aired. The comedy was just too hammy. ....then I watched the entire episode you posted. Some of the jokes were funny.
