i wouldn't actually shut the D&D down. i would just force the D&Ders to only post new ideas and have new arguments and to only post if you've actually changed your mind about something. i'm pretty sure that would shut it down permanently.

 

I don't get all the D&D hatred. If you don't like it, don't click on it. I don't like fantasy sports so I don't read that forum.

As long as people don't carry their arguments into other forums, the D&D is harmless.

I couldn't agree more with your entire post codell. Especially this part, I never posted much in the D&D, I used to lurk there a lot. But now I can't even stand to do that.

 

I would shut it down for a week and tell everyone its gone forever, then I'd go visit some members to see how there doing without the bbs

I would create a Simpsons Forum and ban everyone who thinks King of The Hill is a better show.

 

I would re-open registration.
I've been a huge rockets fan all my life and before I knew about clutchfans, I lamented on the fact that there was nobody I could talk with about rockets ball. People said they were rockets fans but they never knew anything about the team, or never watched the games unless close to the playoffs.
Luckily, by chance, I happened to come across this board. Even more luckily, a little before registration closed. I cannot imagine what I would do if I could not read the GARM anymore. The GARM means a lot to me because Rockets ball is a big part of my life and I'm sure it is important to a lot of people who want to sign up now. The board has matured since registration was closed and I know a lot of responsible people who want to be members so if I could control the site, I would share the gift that is this website and re-open registration for people like me who never found a place to talk and read more about the rockets.

 

I would ban all of you, and then devote every thread in the forum to pictures of myself without pants on.

 

I would have birthdays again on the bottom of the BBS frontpage... or somewhere.
Jeff's was recently, and I remember having fun saying happy birthday to posters. Sometimes they said how old they were in the thread, which was cool. (or depressing!)

I have just discovered the D&D (I'm a little slow), and I think it's pretty cool, just because there are so many different points of view... it's not like I go looking for a lot of political discussion forums, or for ANY in fact, but the ones I stumble on generally seem to cover only a small portion of the spectrum... or else they tend to be way less intelligent than the D&D, which for all its animosity, etc., at least tends to contain a fair amount of reasoned argument as well (by reasoned I mean people quoting sources, etc., to back up their arguments, even if the sources aren't that impeccable -- this compares favorably to other forums I've seen where it is literally mostly name-calling...)

 

remove that forum about rockets saved, downtown arena... does anyone post in there?
