Well, Will Smith is backing it...so it has his approval (He is a producer of the concept). What it is based on:
Yeah at first I didn't think they can possbily redo the comedy but with a drama I don't know, I'm going to keep an open mind. Well see
Yea, I was gonna say...a lot of people asked for this. I thought the short was interesting when it came out. But, I would be shocked if the series could live up to the hype. I think for them to be successful they will pretty much have to abandon the majority audience that made the first Fresh Prince successful. There's pretty much no way middle america will care about this as a drama. They're going to have to mainly target an adult black demographic that would care about a more realistic story of a poor black kid coming to live with a rich uncle. It's not a very popular topic without the comedy.
I really dont care if it's bad, I'm watching it. The original Fresh Prince will live on forever and can't be touched, a reboot will never screw that up. For some reason the suits don't like to reboot black nostalgia. Nobody asked for a Full House reboot and that was on Netflix for 5 damn seasons. This looks good to me. I like the castings. I loved the fan made trailer that set this whole thing in motion. My body is ready.
I disagree. Despite Cosby's creepiness, The Cosby show and A Different World still hold up. siiiiid I want A Different World reboot too. Never forget everyone is available for a Family Matters reboot too. Laura Winslow not as fine as she once was though.
