There WAS a scene where she stole a car and it DID look pretty DOPE tbh. But I had already watched a shitty movie with this SAME actress in it. And I watched that MOVIE Solely for its Dolby Atmos compatibility. Gemini Man. It wasn't a good movie but it DID sound good.
Watched it last night. Come in with no expectations other than watching a mindless action movie and its worth watching. The little girl ruined the film for me, everything she said/did was cringe.
That plotline and the ham-fisted 'redemption' of Kate via taking care of the girl was what killed the pacing, IMO. We didn't need 20 minutes mid-movie for them to bond. You can allude to it in five minutes and get back to kicking ass.
I don't like movies where they have a skinny young female actress trying kicking ass against people with fist-fighting. It just doesn't sell well with me. The truth behind it is.... if that skinny chick tries those punches on a big muscular dude, she's just gonna bounce off of him. Her only chance is to attack him at the knees. I'm not saying that women can't be badass. They just need to portray it differently. Examples: Wonder Woman has super powers so she gets a get-out-of-jail-free card Gina Carano has muscle tone and sells it well Sigourney Weaver was a badass in Alien movies, but not because she had to do a bunch of fist fighting Felicity Jones was a badass in Rogue One, but, again, not because she had to do a bunch of fist fighting
Watching now and I like the visual style, but her movement is very slow and choreographed. If only she had at least a few inches of muscle between her leg to give her balance and explosive strength.
A bit hyper violent. Almost like it is a SAW movie . . WITH ACTION! Well not that much . . .lol But it was pretty good. Almost 10~20 minutes into the movie you knew everything about the ending there was no surprises in the story so seemed they tried to compensate with graphic violence Rocket River
It would of been great if they incorporated BJJ into her fighting. With her height and lengthy limbs, it might of been good to see on screen.
BJJ is a good martial art but it's absolutely terrible for situations where there are multiple attackers. It would be hard to incorporate prominently in this type of movie. I did see some decent chokes in the some of the scenes so it wasn't devoid of BJJ.
The choreographed parts of most fights was bad, Steven Seagal almost, but they made it look good and w/ the speed shifting was not a nuisance.
