I have a lot respect for hakeem but , he is really pissing me. 10 milion !!!??! is too much , He is too old and his conditions are seriously ****ed , if he comes back next season he will play maximum 25 minutes per game and he wont play more than 50 games thats not worth 10 million . Beacuse i like him 4.5 should be enough and if not , we should let him go and sign webber (if we will sign webber we will pay him somthing like 12 million ) only 2 million diffrence between webber to dream think about it ... with 10 million we can sign much more valuable players then hakeem . ------------------
As I said in other threads, give Hakeem 6 million and he will play like a 6 million player. Give him 4 million, and he will suck like Cato. Give him 9 million, and he will turn into a 12 million dollar all-star. In the world of professional sport, nothing represents respect more than your salary. ------------------
kd: perhaps that's why we're paying Mobley underpaying Mobley and he's playing outstanding? Or what about Hakeem when he was underpaid from 91-95? Seemed to play well then. Jordan, too, was underpaid until near the end of his career. Sorry, don't see it. Although I see plenty of guys with max salaries never earning them. ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
Exactly. Just look at Juwan Howard and Vin Baker. ------------------ Rockets' offseason tasks in order of priority: Get rid of Cato under any circumstances. Sign Chris Webber. Re-Sign Hakeem. Exactly Det, but the reason I say signing Dream would give up cap space is because Dream wants close to 10 million dollars, and people are saying they want to sign him to that money and let Mo walk. ------------------ "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat!" - Jesse Ventura
Yeah, I wouldn't give him 10 million either. What I am advocating is appealing to his honor and his thinking as a business man. As I stated in another thread, the thinking is simple: Maybe he will get 3,4,5 million more somewhere else. However, he would definitely burn some bridges in Houston. Long-term, that could make him lose more money than the few million more he could make somewhere else. Somebody just needs to understand that and make him understand that. BTW, I would still rather give Hakeem at 38 $ 10 mio. than giving it to Vin Baker or Juwan Howard in their prime.
I think some of you are misunderstanding me. The point I am trying to make is simple: I want Hakeem back for no more than 6 million. What bugs me are the people who think he's only worth one or two million, and is a money-grubber to ask for anything more. Also, I was pointing out that I would be willing to risk losing Mo, if it meant keeping Hakeem for a couple more years. I honestly don't think he expects to make 10 million per year, and no team will be willing to pay him that much. Just give the guy a chance dammit! Also, that Protrolls site is a joke. It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. If you want it to mean something, go resurrect one of those "ban ZRB" threads. ------------------ Protrolls.com! Hakeem is done. He shouldn't even be playing next year. The Rockets gave him a huge contract long term contract so he could end his playing days as a Rocket. But he wants to come back and he wants (supposedly) a cool $10 million. With his injury problems the past few seasons, its hard to justify that amount of money. Why sacrifice the future of the franchise by signing Hakeem? Taylor is not the best PF in the league or conference. But he plays his role. He will score for you and can rebound, although not as much as people would like. But he is still young and has all the physical tools to become great. Anyway, I think resigning Taylor is far more important to the Rockets. Hakeem is a legend and the Rockets should (and will) try to resign him...but I don't think it should be the number one priority and $10 million. ------------------
Dream has been unbelievably injury prone and hasn't completely fit this team's scheme the last few years. Now with Griffin we're going to be MORE of a running team, and people want to get rid of a young PF with potential to re-sign Hakeem for sentimental reasons!?? We have to think about THE FUTURE, not constantly reward the past. If you guys want to win a championship we can't constantly dump young players to keep Dream because he won us championships. If Dream cared about the franchise winning and building towards the future, and if he wanted to really stay he would take less money and allow the Rockets to re-sign Mo. But for people to want the Rockets to dump Mo just so we can keep Hakeem until he's 40 years old makes NO sense what's so ever and sets back our rebuilding project several years because guess what? Signing Hakeem means giving up a young PF, and having NO cap space the next 2 or 3 years. ------------------ "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat!" - Jesse Ventura
Ridiculous. Zo is the 2nd best Center in the league if he comes back from the disease at his top form. He's like Barkley. Barkley was a great PF, but he was undersized. Exactly like Zo. ------------------
Not if we somehow manage to sign Webber for 12.6 and Hakeem for 2.5 mio. ------------------ Rockets' offseason tasks in order of priority: Get rid of Cato under any circumstances. Sign Chris Webber.
