lol. I don't think we can bank on "hunches," dude. Right now, Embiid is locked in as a Sixer through the 2026-27 season, when he'll be 32 years old. If he does leave Philly, the likelihood that he's coming to Houston at this moment is insanely low. I think we need to focus on the team that's here, not crystal balls and hunches.
Yah not banking on it, there is no reason to even think about it... Just that I see him and for some weird reason I feel like he will end up a Rocket at some point... Maybe towards the end of his career, I don't know... Means nothing...
The Rockets are like a toddler who is very bright and smart but hasn't even gone to school yet. The Sixers are like an above average intelligent teenager who has been hanging out with bad friends and doesn't want to listen to anybody's advice. You are asking which kid will become the CEO of a major corporation first.
Lol you must be joking. Simmons is a top 50 player. Green is trying to not be a bust (for the record I don’t think he will be). Lol the delusion is real.
The 17 wins thing is very fair when you factor in the 20+ game losing streak. Sure there was some tanking but this franchise is currently pathetic from the ownership down to the players (with a few exceptions). That’s the cold, hard truth.
He left because he was tired of dealing with Tillman’s crap. People don’t quit organizations, they quit people.
Rockets screwed morey by not letting him trade for harden and I love it. 1) bc he doesn't get to weasel his way into getting harden 2) bc we are not stuck with Simmons.
Nah, you are being emotional.... The Rockets last year had an incredible amount of tired and worn out personnel that decided to quit and caused a wave of problems for the org. The ownership all the way down to the players had an enormous feat to overcome and they did a fantastic job considering the awful situation they were left in. Month's later, Houston has great young talent with huge upside. Thing are exciting again when they had not been for a long time. All teams rebuild, all teams go through good periods and bad periods. The Rockets are possibly years ahead of their rebuild mainly thanks to Tilman and Stone who have done an outstanding job with the team. Green is a potential superstar, to say he is pathetic is just your emotions that got hurt talking...
The Sixers are CLOSER but I have no idea how to measure likelihood of winning. This year it's looking like Sixers 5% vs Rockets 0%. In 2 years, who knows??? What if the Sixers manage to trade Simmons and picks for something legitimate? Crazier things have happened.
Sixers are one good luck run/bad luck run for another team away from a title. That doesn't guarantee them anything but they are certainly far more likely to win a title before Houston. Embid is good enough to get them there, they just have to hit the right combination of catching fire or someone else getting hurt/going cold at the wrong time - look at the Bucks. A year ago I think most fans would say "the Bucks can't win a title without a significant roster shakeup"....and they just won the title after losing their no shooting defensive minded PG(sound familiar?) in the offseason. Hell, up until midway through that Bucks/Nets series this year I think most people had counted the Bucks out and they were one KD toe on the line away from being stomped out but that's how runs and luck go. You just have to be good enough to be in that position to take advantage of good fortune and I believe the Sixers are. ...we certainly have aspirations in Houston, but there is no guarantee that ANY of our players are good enough because none of them to date have led a team to a very good season let alone significant playoff success.
Hard to answer because I don't think either team has a core capable of winning a championship right now. Embiid could be that kind of player in theory, but I don't think he'll ever be able to stay healthy for long enough.....also, when's the last time Morey made a quality draft pick or won a trade? The Rockets have KPJ and Green who could both end up all star caliber players one day, but it's way too early to think that either could be the main piece of a championship team.
On the surface, this question looks kind of ridiculous. Philly is so much further ahead than the Rockets are and in a completely different timeline, that it seems bizarre to compare these two teams. With that said, we saw with Harden that having a great player and being really close is fun to watch, but if it doesn't get you an actual chip, it may be further away. As great as Embiid is, I don't think he is good enough to be the best player on a championship team especially with today's emphasis on wings and guard play. I'm not a fan of Simmons and that whole situation seems like a mess. And as currently constructed, although they are definitely in the contender category, I don't see them winning a ring with their core. So even though it seems ridiculous, I'm going with Houston. We are young, have significant pieces to build around and hopefully build the right way.... Plus, I'm just a huge homer when it comes to my sports teams
One step at a time. I’m being very patient with you. Who would you rather have, Jalen Green or Ben Simmons? I swear to god….
Nobody here is really emphasizing how f'ed the sixers are due to their 4 year max contract on a guy who shot like 4 field goals or something in an entire playoff series. Not a single team is offering them anything of value and their own coach all but said he can't win with simmons. morey isn't one to tank, so he will keep trying to win, but obviously embiid cannot do it on his own, and the sixers can't afford another max guy because of simmons. Then in 3 years when the sixers get eliminated in the second round every year, older and more injury prone embiid with a year left on his contract will demand a trade, sixers will get Joey Dorsey, a first round pick, and 2 second rounders and we will already be way into our rebuild.
Either that or he'll pretend to care about his family again so he can get out of his contract and get a job with a different team.
I’d take Green simply because he’s younger, had a higher ceiling and isn’t on a massive contract. Still, Simmons is significantly better at this point. We don’t even know how Green will react to real NBA pressure
No I’m being rational. This team barely played .250 ball. That’s damn near historically bad….and that’s what they current are. I would place Green (and the other rookies) in my “few exceptions” category because we don’t what he’ll be. He could be a generational talent, a superstar, an all star, a solid player or a bust. It’s too early to say for sure.
embarrassing point. green literally is better on day 1. This upcoming season, Jalen will show you how ridiculous this is.
