Is taking on Tariq's contract worth Raef?

Everyone can see after the draft that our weakest link is at center. There aren't many centers out there that would fit with our young nucleus and are available. However one is Raef and has issues with Issel, but the only way to get him is to take on a cap albotross like tariq.

Now my question is to you is whether or not its worth it. Take in mind, Tariq's contract runs for 6+ more years and is insane money.

    $4,500,000, $5,062,500, $5,625,000, $6,187,500, $6,750,000, $7,312,500, $7,875,000.

This is even worse than Cato, plus he's not even a big man that we could just use as a body.

    what do you guys think?

    Tariq isn't another Cato.

The only reason he is looked upon so lowly is because of the falling out he had with coach Issel in Denver. Look back at his performance in Sacramento and Orlando - he was an effective scorer in a limited role, scoring 12ppg, and an excellent defender.

Get him out of Denver and he will prosper. He's still young. Issel is the reason that team never goes anywhere...and his coaching style is why he is being revolted upon by the players.

I like Oliver Saint Jean as a player but he isnt worth the money and we just dont need that position. He is like Shandon Anderson but I like to compare him to Doug Christie. Lafrentz really isnt worth it.

LaFrentz is a good fit for us but picking up Tariq with his big contract is not worth it.
Ziggy,he has changed his name to Tariq Abdul-Wahad from Oliver Saint Jean.

Where did you find that? I justcheck his official website (www.abdulwahad.com) and didn't find any info on it, though he always signs his name "Tariq."

He's pulling your leg, my friend.

Another thing, not to be a smartass (well, actually, that is exactly it [IMG]), but I think the thread title should be "Is Raef worth taking on Tariq's contract"...not vice versa [IMG].

Rockets' offseason tasks in order of priority:
    • Get rid of Cato under any circumstances.
    • Sign Chris Webber.
    • Re-Sign Hakeem.
    • Re-Sign Moochie and AirBullard.
    • Pick up the Langhi option for another year.
    • Trade for Bo Outlaw and Raef LaFrentz.
