How is it that we are not getting any information or updates about our players or our team. It seems like nobody is posting any new information..........Y
Out of curiosity, what kind of content do you guys wish the Rockets had on their Youtube channel right now and up until training camp? Aren't you tired of watching players just work out.
August/September time (prior to training camp, after all FAs have signed) is usually dead for any news on your team, besides whatever articles may be written occasionally regarding future and offseason grades. Even when there is drama (i.e Simmons situation), it is still mostly rehashed stories and sources. Be patient.
I miss Tad Brown saying there's going to be fireworks and Morey hyping up the 2mill TPE cap space to sign an all-star player.
I mean, the roster is basically set (barring trades) and training camp isn’t until the 28th. What do you expect to hear?
We Rockets fans kind of got spoiled over the past few years with constant news/product to consume. There were long playoff runs in 2017 and 2018 (even if bittersweet or whatever is worse than bittersweet) and the re-tooling off seasons that basically shortened the off season. Even the 2019 off season felt shorter because the Chris Paul-RW trade brought a lot of news coverage and intrigue to the franchise. Then while 2019-20 season had the mid season shutdown, the bubble and fallout in the offseason made the team constantly be in the news and press. With a shorter off season that quickly carried over into the Harden training camp mess and the 20-21 regular season, so there felt like no lull in coverage. We have to remember that even in COVID time, this team is now 1/4 rookies that just had to go through months of press events, workouts and all. So they don't want to deal with constant coverage right now until they have to. The Rockets brass probably don't want to put that on them either because their on-court development and chemistry means more right now. Lastly, this feels like a major difference between a Morey and Stone regime. Morey seemed to "use" the media or be okay with having a lot information be publicly available. Stone very much feels the opposite, much closer to vest. Not Belicheck bad, but only reveal what needs to be revealed. And I think the botched "media ploy" about Victor Oladipo at the trade deadline made them even less likely to leak things.
Tilman doesn't know how to connect to people in this era, look at the Raptors, they pump out so many videos its no wonder they fans are so rabid.
Morey was the king of overselling and underdelivering…got to the point where I was just tired of him always running his mouth and seeking attention
There isn’t much to say when even the training camp invites are compared to top tier 2 way players in the league. It seems like a lot of great things are happening. Our players seem to be in the gyms doing their thing. Maybe as they naturally mature we will start to see them in the community doing charitable things. Wall, Gordon or House helping the Louisiana hurricane victims would have been nice to see. Overall, Just a slow time of year.
Morey would hype up the players he got (indirectly patting himself on the back), this current front office has mostly just gave themselves credit and would pat themselves on the back outright, after the season Stone said he thought they got a great deal in the Harden trade and that they did a fantastic job, and that they just had tremendous bad luck with injuries. The thing is we traded for and signed a ton of players that have injury history, so instead of taking responsibility they were patting themselves on the back, after a season that included a record number of consecutive and total losses. Don't get me wrong, I think they did well with the draft, but this was prior to the draft and the lotto ball coming our way. I think to an extent a GM has to do a bit of selling to get the fans excited about the future, every team has to do this.
