Most experts on the subject would disagree with your assessment that the Taliban and ISIS-K are "very closely allied". Al Qaeda is a different matter, though they are significantly weakened at this point. No one is suggesting that our counter-terrorism operations against groups that are threatening us or our allies will stop. So I don't really get the point you are driving at.

Would agree the war isn't over until all our people come home? If not...why not? Withdrawing from the battlefield (ending war operations) does NOT mean the war is actually over. FWIW, to truly end ANY war, there needs to be an official signed declaration of such. Especially needed in this case, as it would contain the specific terms of getting the rest out. Does such a document exist? Nope. Some just said it was over. If you're in a fight, and you say its over, but the other side keeps hitting you, or planning on hitting you, anyway...is it really over? Or does the other guy also need to say, ok, it's over?
