Weather update. Wind and rain are crazy here. These are already the strongest wind gusts Ive ever seen and the situation is going to worsen the next 4 hrs or so.

Pig update. Wife having to bribe him with treats to go out in yard to use bathroom. He is no longer enjoying the weather.

Damn. Glad the lady is OK. Ida is somewhere beyond incredible in it's power. Just insane. I have, or rather had, a cousin in East Texas named Ida, who must be 135 years old now - I'm guessing she's now in the Great Beyond. Just remembered her. A good East Texas name, Ida. Nothing good about this Ida, though.

As an aside, her lawn is something I'd give a lot for, having limestone rock about 3 inches under mine in SW Austin. Wild how it was pulled up by the tree. I've never seen anything like it. The lawn being pulled up like that, not the tree.

I always found this among the more amazing aspects of hurricanes and the power they have for a brief period :

The areas just south of New Orleans are seeing levee failures. New Orleans has a long way to go for an all clear especially with no power.

Still hurricane strength 12+ hours after landfall not close to a record but the longest lasting I can recall.

    Pray for NOLA.

main transmission tower that provided the electricity to the city has toppled into the river. Could be quite a while before it is fixed from early reports. This is bad.
