BYU would immediately be the most important team in the Big 12. Lulzt.

Tech, Baylor, TCU. Big 12 needs to expand in different areas

They’re not going to expand the playoff for a while. Bama LSU OU A&M GA TX FL - talk about a bloodbath and you’ll get 1 team into the playoff on most years.

Baylor has been close to the playoff twice in recent years. Literally finished 5th in the inaugural. A&M has stayed on the outside of college football relevancy. Don’t act brand new please

    It's all the Aggies have.

"Look at my whiskey tango friends! They're so fun and just like us!"

Until you join the SEC you will never understand how great if feels to watch another school do great things, and then pretend you matter just because you're in the same conference.

The problem with ignoring UH is none of those teams are a big draw in the Houston TV market (my daughter goes to Baylor). You are just giving up the 4th largest city and the 8th largest TV market.

UH is the 2nd best basketball program in the state (Baylor) and could be a football power.

Unfortunately neither is UH unless they're playing "one of whatever teams"

UH had good support for their Tourney run. It would be much better than what is left of the Big 12. UH problem has been the conference they are in.

The Athletic just published a piece that the Big 12 are putting on a major offensive to get BYU on board. Desperate times I suppose.

One of the more interesting parts was the TV breakdown for potential candidates.

    |School or Conference|Avg Viewers on Major Networks (ABC, Fox, or ESPN)|Avg Viewers on Tier 2 Networks (EPSN2, ESPNews, ESPNU, FS1, FS2)|

    |Big XII (minus UT/OU)|1,786,000|482,000|
    |BYU|1,640,000|682,000|
    |Boise St|1,180,000|470,000|
    |Central Florida|1,440,000|247,000|
    |Cincinnati|1,630,000|169,500|
    |Houston|1,421,000|356,000|

I'd say the gist is that there's very little daylight between them all. Just take your pick based on quality of life improvement, because it's a real hair splitting exercise otherwise.

Worth noting athletic budgets here I suppose.

    BYU - Unknown (private lulz)
    Boise - 50.5M
    UCF - 69M
    Cinci - 69M
    Houston - 75M

    Again. Hairsplitting. Except Boise. N00bz.

75M for BYU per The Athletic. Honestly sounds like the Big 12 would be best serve by just asking ESPN which schools will net them the biggest deal. It's a crap position to be in but if you are already looking at a $14M/year loss in revenue, I assume trying to recoup any amount of that, even if relatively minimal amounts, would be the biggest priority.
