On Friday, the Lakers announced that Madsen will need surgery after having injured his wrist in preseason workouts last year. He was able to play but was able to play throughout the season despite some pain, Lakers spokesperson John Black said.

"We had another test done which determined the severity of it," Black said. "It's a risk if he were to land awkwardly on it."

Madsen averaged 2.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 70 games last season.

Anyone think that Steve might get to play at the Goodwill Games now? Madsen will be so hard to replace. Huge Loss for the team! [IMG]

Lakes is in trouble. They will have only 10 players and only 4 millions to spend (if they want to avoid taxes).

They will have to find a way to sign-and-trade Grant, pack with another role player and get a bunch of young players, cause they aint get much more than that. Who wants to help the Lakers? I bet nobody does

As long as Stu Jackson is involved, Francis isn't going to be on the team.

See why Madsden was on the team on the first place? Stu Jackson would rather take DESHAWN STEVENSON.
