What do you remember from this arena here in Houston? Games, exhibitions, concerts, or perhaps showings? Let us know.

Not sure if it counts since it was The Summit then, but in the Spring of '89 I saw NWA, Tone Loc and MC Hammer (pre- U Can't Touch This) there. Tons of low riders and ball caps with cute sayings on the back.

    Great thread idea.

Were me and my folks the only saying “when the laptop closed” regarding the Compaq Center when it closed cause we all kinda bristled remembering it as The Summit? Concerts in your teens were at The Summit. U Got 2 Know on the intro and baby Matt Thomas on the PA. Good times.

I got lost in the garage one time. It took me an hour and a half to find my vehicle.

Are we only talking about the years between 1998-2003? Because otherwise we should be referring to that building as the Summit, not Compaq Center.

The only professional sports game I’ve been to where the team I was rooting for lost(Lost to KG in his TWolves days) but what sticks out is the countless Comets games I went to(cousin has a connect)

in 5 years, lakewood church would have tied in the summit as the longest tenants of that building.

If you mean the Summit ;), Playoff game Eddie Johnson 3-pointer at the buzzer vs the Jazz in the nosebleeds. Insanity.

I think of the Summit Always. So many amazing memories, still gets me the goosebumps when I drive by 95 remembering the good ol Clutch City days. Used to grab food and sit on the top with my boys and then all the teens/kids would wait outside hte players parking to get shoes/autos if we get lucky. Great memores, atmosphere, team.

As a kid, watching the Rockets with Rudy T and Moses. Also went to several Aeros games and watched the Howe family skate even though I didn’t know jack about hockey. As a teenager it was Rockets, but really all about the concerts—Styx, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick, Queen, etc.

Went to an AC/DC concert with buddies.

Got separated from them, looked for the car for about an hour, then found a taxi just outside the parking garage and made the hour trek to the country to get home. Cost me $100.00
