This summarizes the Easterby saga about as much and simply as any statement I've heard. Watson wants to be trade? Must be Easterby's fault. They didn't hire the GM/coach Watson wanted? Must be Easterby's fault. They release Watt? Must be Easterby's fault. Yes, the Hopkins trade sucked!! You know who was in charge when lots of trades sucked? Bill O'brien. So far, at least, with a "real" GM in place, they seem to be doing better. Easterby is still there... hmmmm? And oh, btw, Watson's fault was he's a perv f'ing moron, not Easterby. I don't love Easterby. I don't hate Easterby. He's just a dude, doing a job he was seemingly hired to do. At this point in time of the offseason/pre-season, any media referencing him in any way is just being lazy and don't really have anything else to say about the Texans cause they haven't actually researched anything...
O'Brien was the surface of the problems, Easterby is the root. I'm glad they are doing good thus far and hope they have a great season but Easterby is not qualified any position of authority and he is dragging this organization in to the dumps, period!
Yeah, this is a big nothing-burger... BUT it does show you just how awful Easterby's reputation is that it can negatively color something so innocuous.
Man is not qualified to b at the position he is at. Man was there when all the bad sht and shtty trade took place. If u r gonna get rid of cancer you get rid of everything, u don't save any front office personnel that is associated with BoB. It's not that hard and it shouldn't b personal. Idk if the story where easterby is the spiritual advisor to McNair is tribute, but mixing religion with sports is stupid. Man should stick to what he knows.
if Easterby was the root … then we’d be hearing more about him and his bad meddling instead we had a video of him being dumb months ago in a preacher role and that’s basically it. Moreover the ship at least seems afloat now when it was sinking before. The difference is BillyO is gone.
The root of all the Texans problems is Cal McNair...Once poppa Bob died Cal was left sucking his thumb...Mama McNair doesn't care about the Texans and Cal isn't capable of blowing his nose without falling over...
What about SI article describing easterby as the little finger of football? Why do you think andre Johnson and Jamey Rootes left the Texans?
Jesus Christ couldn’t VP this train wreck of a franchise to success, and trust me, Easterby’s his biggest fan
Why did executives of the most mediocre and average or worse organization leave? Who cares? like what was Andre doing? How was it helping anyway? I mean I know he said a lot of things about having Deshaun’s back… wonder if he’d take back those comments now?
Im not following my dude -- as in the same reporter making claims vs Watson in this scandal? I wouldnt know, but if you have some info about it I'd love to read up on it. I personally like the viewpoints of the rest of the league vs the insulated circle jerk with the Texan media here in town.
I mean, isn’t that the report about Jack contacting Watsons mom after the agent wouldn’t talk to him?
Is it?? My goodness the plot thickens. I honestly didnt know. If it was it makes all the more sense why Watson is done. Wow. Now im about to go down that rabbit hole. I thought it was just some random player not even during his tenure here. SMH.
I could be wrong. I thought that’s what it was. But……if it was, was he wrong? Is it wrong of an employee to see a player going down the wrong path and try to stop it? If he was able, Watson might not be in the legal trouble he’s in
this was addressed in the follow up posts…. BUT… this is exactly what Jack was hired to do. Whether Watson - definitely possible and if so it makes this article the epitome of stupid useless reporting. But even if not Watson… again… it seems like this is what Jack was hired to do. Does it seem excessive to you and me? Sure. Does it speak to maybe an ownership issue? Possibly. But AGAIN… we have no idea what this particular issue was. The journalist frames it as overbearing boss when for all we know it’s really concerned boss (“hope this dudes ok” or “this dude isn’t ok and I need to talk to folks close to him to help”). As I noted in prior posts… to me… we don’t have to speculate when stuff has happened since. Easterby seemed to be an issue 6-12 months ago. Since that time Bill O’Brien was fired, Casiero was hired, and the DW scandal came out which correctly frames everything in a new light. All the while we barely hear about Jack, we have some other players who are like “he’s fine” and the organization seems to be at least on solid footing, albeit not looking prime for a great winning season or anything. It seems akin to the Rockets to me but again not as optimistic. If I was furthering that comparison I’d compare Jack to Tillman’s son. Everyone was like omg this is horrible!!! Whereas it turns out everything seems to be going great.
