It was false advertisement! “Hoodie Melo” never showed up in Houston! We were all to busy looking at La La and didn’t notice that Melo was already chopped liver. ……. ……. …….
Yes, another Melo thread!!! I thought it was going to be a good fit only because when we would get cold from 3, he could post up and get us some easy buckets/fouls. MDA apparently had no plan to use him that way. MDA did not care if anyone did not play defense, so lets not act like that was the reason he was gone after 12 games.
The summer of Melo was the start of the dismantling of this franchise. Called that a dumb move from the beginning and a terrible fit. Probably the worst summer ever next to the summer of westbrick, the following season. Rinse and repeat. And now here we are IDDIOT for sure
Carmelo Anthony when he was with the Rockets was really overweight, didn't play hard, played slow, didn't get back on defense or take charges. Last year on the Blazers Carmelo Anthony lost a lot of weight and looked normal, and looked quicker, shot quicker.
Signing him was prob a mistake. Coach prob never wanted him. Glad he was able to recover tho. Wish him no luck on the lakers though
Yes, definitely cutting him was a mistake. If we just stick to him and traded James. We would got the number 1 draft pick to select either Zion or Ja Morant and still have either Paul or CC and all our draft picks that stupidly sent to OKC.
Nah. If anything Melo should be thanking the Rockets. Melo said his stints in OKC and Houston ended up changing his perspective. Going from starter to bench guy was something he bristled at ("AYO P, THEY WANT ME TO COME OFF THE BENCH!") and was part of the reason why he was traded. He learned to accept that role in Portland and now he's a lovable old ring-chasing vet. His "bad" time in Houston was a reality check that helped his career.
This is what folks that think he's actually productive can't see. the same goes for a number of other players
What exactly has he contributed in Portland? Since acquiring him, the Trailblazers have lost in the first round twice. Sometimes, he's not even the 4th best player on the team.
The guy couldn't stop a snail from throwing a beach ball through a washer. Pringles tried putting him at every position on the court and no matter where he went, that is where the ball went as well. He was during the regular season what OKC Kanter was in the playoffs. Plus he was also a low percentage midrange ballstopper that made Harden look like Jason Kidd when it came to passing.
