Giants (Donavan Solano, who?) with a 2 run bomb in the 8th to take the lead. A’s have 6 outs left, down 2-1.
Bats went cold again and we couldn’t get any clutch hits in a close game. Thats why we lost. Thats usually why we lose.
Graveman and Pressly didn’t really do their jobs and weren’t hampered by bullshit ghost runner. brooks Raley was the best reliever of the day… all you need to know.
Agreed. And yet he walked away unscathed and got a K when they needed it. Graveman’s 2 out hits allowed really came out of nowhere. Pressly has been amazing all year, but 1 run saves never can be taken for granted. the Correa AB in extras was almost criminal.
Just an overall, tough team loss. Too many runners left stranded on third, and having Graveman and Pressly both give up runs was rare. There are a ton of Dusty haters around here, I'm not one of them. BUT there are certain times ejections are a matter of managerial duty. Dusty absolutely had to get tossed after that Correa call in the 10th. He had to do it - an ejection accomplishes many things in that situation: 1) it defends his batter Correa, 2) it defends Raley from the inning prior, when he basically had to throw 6 strikes to end his inning. For a guy that has had a tumultuous season, when he was pitching great like that, he needs to see his manager have his back, 3) it gets the guy on the mound, Sewald, thinking about tightening his strike zone for the next two batters, which could have helped Castro and Yuli; 4) it gets the ump's attention that he needs to get his s*** together the next time the astros are pitching in the top of the next inning. It just had to be done and Dusty is usually pretty good at knowing when to throw a tantrum. I am very surprised he didnt.
Has Dusty ever been tossed from a game as our manager? Dude has no passion on the field. Maybe he can hem and haw in the dugout, but I haven't seen him go out onto the field and argue balls and strikes. Or even yell for more than 2 seconds at the umpires.
He has been ejected at least twice since being our manager that I can recall. Once this year and another last year. Plus he had his "get on the mound mothaf****!" to Joe Kelly, which was appreciated.
