I don't really know why, but the far and away local leader throughout this entire process has been Red Wolves. I was personally hoping for the Senators. "Washington Football Team", as silly as it may seem at first blush, has really worked well. Not a lot of energy around changing it tbh.
You'd think the organization would have grabbed every possibility of what they might use long before a few weeks ago.
as others have said, I hated the name "The Washington Football Team", when it first came out but I like it now, I even like the slight change in unis.........oh well, to be honest I dont care but I always like seeing a new uniform come out. I still wish people in LA would listen to fans and especially guys like Eric D who say the RAMS new uniforms suck........they are the worst I have ever seen
I'm a Texans fan living in DC legit dying for a new team to root for, and I can't, because somehow the fightin' Snyders manage to be the one team in the NFL run more poorly than the one in Houston. That name is just awful. WFT is better.
I'm right there with you. I'd give the team a shot if Snyder ever got pushed out. As it stands I am only a tacit, fair weather fan of the Texans, which basically means "not a fan." I actually kind of like the name at face value and in print, but then I imagine hearing it on a game broadcast and it suddenly sounds a lot sillier. Too many syllables and no easily shortened nickname (comms or commies probably won't stick).
I said the same thing about the Bullets / Wizards but eventually the name just becomes normal after 10 years.
I think even the Washington Washingtons would be better. I'm laughing so hard right now. "Commanders."
