I think I'd rather have Damon Jones with that lineup.

posted in a nother thread, will do it again because it looks good.

    Steve Francis

    Rasheed Wallace
    Yao Ming

    Bench:
    Cuttino Mobely

I know it is impossible to get T-Mac without giving up Steve, Cat or Cato but you never know.

Brent Barry / Luke Ridnour / Wilks
    JJ / Pike
    AK 47 / Boki
Al Harrington / AK 47 / FA Pickup
Yao / Cato or FA Pickup

Steve to the Clips for the #2 pick, then the #2 to Utah for AK47. Then Mobley and/or Cato to Indiana for Al Harrington and luggage. Then Mo to Seattle for Luke Ridnour and sign and trade for Brent Barry.

There you go, we groom Ridnour for the starting pg job and we have a terrific, young and athletic frontline. Pick up a decent sg down the line, and the Rox become big time contenders with about 2-3 years of maturity and chemistry building.

rather subtle, but very interesting. The well rounded defensive four with a shot, and the ball handling three with a little explosiveness and good smarts. All without giving up steve.

still like the pipe dream of mcgrady better

Nothing personal, but that team stinks. Hardaway is well past his prime and Kurt Thomas will be 32 when the next season starts with a contract worth ~$36m out to 2009. Together, Penny and Thomas combine for $20.5m in salary. IOW, using the entire TE, the Rockets still have to send NY nearly $14m in contracts.

So imagine the current Rox with Thomas and Hardaway and without Mobley and one of Taylor or Cato. We are the 2003-04 Suns with Marbury, a younger Hardaway and one low post presence. Your suggested team would struggle for the 8th seed.

    Why........

Lets look at this logically.......With Orlando having the first pick and landing Emeka Okafor, T-Mac now is going no where.

Hell, this might have even saved the franchise. Cause with the Magic needing and demanding a new arena soon, if T-Mac left, I really didn’t see them getting that new arena as partly due to fan backlash for T-Mac's departure. If T-Mac left, the Magic would have been singing, "Kansas City, Kansas City here I come!!"

But now, that wont happen. Believe me, I would love to see T-Mac in a Rockets uniform....(thanks Rocketeer)...but the addition of a big man with big potential will be enough of an enticing upgrade to convince T-Mac stay in Orlando and see how things work out .....in which they will and the Magic will get there new arena as well.

So therefore, The Clips become should and will now have the attention of the Rockets and there fans for all pipe-dream trade scenarios.

With the 2nd pick, its pretty much a given the Clips will draft Howard and seek to move Brand for the superstar Donald Sterling wants and craves to help fill the empty seats at Staples.

Kobe would have been the first option here but his court situation will drag out, thus leaving his availability status in jeopardy for too long for the Clips to consider him. And with the T-Mac sweepstakes now over before they even started, the Clips and Don Sterling will turn their attention to another young player with potential for high pub to satisfy their cravings for a superstar, Steve Francis.

While Francis might not play like a superstar in many of your eyes, Francis is in that league, no doubt. He is routinely selected to start All-Star Games now.....when was the last time the Clips ever had one of those? And this is even despite the fact that some guards might have had better seasons then him.

But we all know, the All-Star Game is one big popularity contest, one Francis usually wins.

Face it, Francis has the "street cred" to help make him a superstar. And there are no worries about him aging and breaking down like with AI, or jail time like with Kobe.

This potential for stardom that Francis has will be more then enough to blind and already dumb Sterling into trading Brand for Francis.

but there is a chance that Rockets Management
wont have any guts to make the big moves!
In reality I expect much of the same and Yao Ming
still not getting the chance to fully develop.

    "Guard #1" - Francis
"Guard #2" - Anyone who can play defense and is a consistent spotup 3pt shooter
    SF - Jackson
    PF - Rasheed
    C - Yao

I think this past season was an anomoly for Cat. I like him much more as a swing type, 6th man. I think any scenario that keeps him but deals Steve will be a huge mistake when Mobley goes back to playing selfish and taking a lot of stupid shots (and not hitting as many as he did this year). I'd almost take another JJ who will play defense and hit the 3 when left open.

I would not have a problem moving Steve to SG and bringing in a PG with said qualities.

Rasheed Wallace is the key. He is an intimidator up front, and that is what this team needs more than anything. He can pound, play D, and get us boards on either glass.

Hey, I don't take it personal, 'cause it's really not a team I'd necessarily like us to assemble. The thread asked for predictions of what next season's starting lineup might look like. Given JVG's penchant for Knicks, that's about the best I could come up with. Not sure that there's any combo of Rockets-Knicks that would look much better, but you can try if you want to.

I'm sure that would be Knicks ex-coach JVG used to coach. All the Knicks he has brought in here are all players he used to coach.

    Penny wasnt one of them.
