After today, 4 albums of grunge of the top 40 left: Pearl Jam - Yield Foo Fighters - self-titled I got 2 Wipers albums the other day which I need to listen to - heck, I just need to listen to everything that I have by them! I am going to change my ipod over, probably by the end of this week, to a predominantly indie rock flavor.
I actually just got this 3CD Set a couple months ago. They were so good! Calling them punk rock seems pretty reductive. I think of them as a mix of punk and post-punk if that even makes any sense LOL. They had the "moodiness" of post-punk, but still had the fuller, crunchier guitar sound of a punk record. More sonically adventurous than other "punk" albums of the day.
I loved the that album in all of it's raw, unpredictable glory. Over time the over-produced Colour and the Shape somehow became the definitive "Foo Fighters" album. I guess because it has "Everlong" on it. Anyway, I consider the self-titled one of the last great grunge albums (maybe along with Down on the Upside).
up until this week, the only exposure I’d had to rock music was whatever was in those DBZ movies I remember really liking the song that was played in this scene but the other day I heard a song on a YouTube video that sounded catchy, so I looked up the lyrics and got the name of the song which was this I listened to it in the car today and it was a certified banger, so now I’m wondering if anyone on here who’s heavy into rock music can suggest or recommend some songs that are similar to this one and the DBZ song because I don’t even know where to begin…I know absolutely nothing about rock music, but now I’m interested in expanding my tastes
Get "Straight Ahead" which is a Greg Sage solo album. It is to the Wipers' discography what Colin Newman's "A to Z" is to Wire's discography. An essential part of it...
Bon Iver seems to be... polarizing. How do I make it so Deathcab for Cutie, Shins, Postal Service - NEVER play on my Spotify our YT Music? Never. Completely blocked.
Also listening to a few freestyles. For those that like Style, the Migos blend perfectly with this beat. For those that like Lyricsim, Black Thought (The Roots) has a GOAT level freestyle. Here's Rap Genius breaking down his lyrics to really appreciate it. https://genius.com/13346461
