And PLTR buying gold to insulate from a market doomsday event. Scary stuff. Potentially. Clock is ticking IMO.
depressed and angry last 2 weeks. realised the only good thing in my life last 2 years was making $ from stonks. hopefully apps can recover
I dont understand the infatuation with Cathie Wood. She has a very mixed track record and in many ways her record is quite poor. And the way she talks about ARK being the will of God makes her sound a loony. Nothing wrong with being extremely religious but using religion to rationalize her work seems nuts to me.
if only you can support you convenient broad strokes w more details / more color how her first fund was launched successfully speaks volume as to the respect she was according by Wall Street she used her own $ millions to get it started the funds stellar performance and her ability to articulate her strategy convinced many in wall street to join her fund that's just meaningless rhetoric
Looks like I've been given the opportunity to buy the rest of my position in APPS..of course that usually now means I have second thoughts!
Her first fund in the 2000s completely collapsed in the dot com bubble (lost something like 80% of its peak value). I dont know why anyone would cite that as an example of her success. Comparable hedge funds only lost around 15% value during that period. As for other funds, they've done ok but they're not the magical consistent high growth funds that people imagine them as. She has marketed herself well and in turn that has brought on a lot of investors who really stick by her no matter what. If you compare her performance to more passive funds, she doesn't really outperform any of them. I don't understand what her active management brings to the table. And her behavior suggests that she is constantly pumping stocks (due to clever marketing and the size of her positions) but none of that is sustainable in the long run. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see a lot of really good marketing that caters to new and more inexperienced investors rather than solid long term active management that outperforms competing funds on a regular basis.
