No! we don't need T-Mac. mark this down, T-Mac is no Kobe and Yao is no Shaq. getting T-Mac leaves us nothing besides Yao & T-Mac and that means 1st round exit in the West for the next 5 years. at the management's point, a superstar like McGrady might be more marketable/attractive and get you more fans than SF3 but that doesn't gurentee $, wins sell tickets. T-Mac's not even as dedicate as the likes of Steve, Cat, Iverson, Bibby, Ginobli, ..... unless he plays with Shaq, Duncan or Garnett and be the #2, he'll never win a championship. isn't we building the team around Yao? T-Mac's not gonna be the #2 and he's not a perfect compliment to Yao. what we really need is a hardworking PF who hussles for rebounds, play good D, hit the open Js and most importantly does it every night. who does it best, Elton Brand. now we need an excellent shooter to take off pressure from Yao who won't force crazy shots like Cat and should be able to run a "REAL" fastbreak. when you talk about a shooter, go for the best, Ray Allen. forget about Brent Barry. he's too old to be our pg of the future and he won't come in to play 10-15 min/g off the bench. he's also too old/slow to play JVG type defense at the 1. look how SF3/Parker burned Gary the old Glove. what we need is a younger, quicker, athletic guard who can knock down the open shots, creat for his teamates, and most importanly protect the ball. we don't need another star to fill Steve's shoes, just someone who's smart enough to make the right decision on the court. who does it best, surprisingly, Antonio Daniels...imo. Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists Per Turnover(4.89), Ranks #8 in the NBA in Assists Per 48 Minutes(9.5). a 6'4/205lb, very athletic guard. 7yr vet. had some playoff experience with the Spurs and Blazers. aren't those everything we expect for a pg? playing behind Barry for 21min/g in Seattle and will play even less next year behind Luke Ridnour (Sonic's 1st pick last summer). i think we can easily get this guy if we seriously make an offer. so instead of trading SF3/Cat/Taylor for T-Mac/Hill as rumored how do we get Brand/Allen/Daniels? here're two trades that i can see it happen. 1.) a 3 way deal: Sac. receives: Mobley, Taylor, J. James Sea. receives: CWebb, Pike Hou. receive: Allen, Daniels many of the Kings fans now think they're better without CWebb in the starting lineup. acturly they were the best team in the West with a starting line-up of Divac/Miller/Peja/Christie/Bibby. Taylor is like a CWebb off the bench for them, instant offense for maybe 15-20 min/g. for the 1st time for quite a while, the Kings were "short handed" when B. Jackson went down. Cat (and Mo) will make them the deepest team once again. James gives them an extra big body (and probably the only "physical" big guy) to throw at Shaq. Seattle make it no secret that they're shopping Allen around for some inside presence (SAR, Jamison, etc.) "Flip" Murray proved he could be a top scorer in this league when Allen was out. trading Allen for CWebb makes alot of sense for the Sonics, Rashard'd also benefited by go back to his nature position, SF. Sonics also would love to get rid of one of their "big 3" (fat contract of their centers.) Pike gives them another sharp shooter after trades away Allen. we then trade SF3 for Elton as planned re-sign Padgett and Wilks and maybe sign a low-priced back-up point guard like D. Jones or B. Knight. a real championship contender borned: Yao Ming, Cato E. Brand, Padgett, Spoon Jackson, Nachbar R. Allen, Griffin Daniels, Knight, Wilks
this is definitely better than the TMac trade if the Rockets can get it to happen... but there are so many contingencies here. also... two max contracts before Yao resigns? how does that work?
The lineup is very good. Most people can see that. The problem is getting both those guys. I don't see why Sac wants Taylor. Cat, maybe, with Chrisie getting older. But Cat isn't a team offense guy. The only thing we have they'd want is the TE. Maybe you can dream something up with Cat and the TE and we 3 way a Ray Allen deal. Same with a 3 way with Portland for SAR. Taylor plugs in a little better directly in Seattle. Here's a shot at it Cat, Taylor, TE - Seattle Ray Allen, J James - Houston or 3-way Cat, Taylor, TE from Houston Ray Allen, J James from Seattle SAR, D. Anderson from Portland SAR, DA to Seattle Allen, James to Houston Taylor, Cat, TE to Portland then : SF3 for Brand then : MCE for Brent Barry Really, if you could get Allen for just Cat, Taylor and the TE, I'd be all over that. You have a few other options to trade SF3. Maybe you get Heinrich. Maybe Troy Murphy. Maybe AK47. Anyway, you have options, and you have Yao/Allen locked up, with supporting cast in JJ and Boki and other help/ trade assets in Cato and Spoon and Padgett and Pike. Not horrible. Whoever you trade SF3 for, you've got a team. EDIT : On the other hand .... If you got TMac for SF3 and Cato, (WOW!), and Barry for the MCE, you could have a team like this : Yao/? T.Braggs/Spoon TMac/Boki Allen/JJ Barry/? Wow. Stop that backcourt. Yao's all alone up front, but who cares? Pull him out a little, bombs away.
in my opinion, ray allen is the perfect compliment for yao. i can just see yao drawing the defense and kickin the ball out to allen for a wide open three. is there any chance we could sign a pg like arroyo, because that seems like a good fit for the rox then id just settle for a bruiser at pf, that doesnt get a lotta credit cato for brian grant (both contracts are fat arent they, would miami go for this, would any houston fan besides me go for this?)
id rather have a rashard lewis and daniels then allen...hes injury prone and gettin old....rashard still can hit the 3 well and still wit stretch the d....he'll take care of our 3 position and just move jj to the 2...
please for the love of a rockets bbs. whoever reads this if have a long comment about Tmac. put it in one of the other threads. thats what its there for. geez
both trades neglect the PF position for us. i believe that finding a 4 to put next to yao is just as important a task as finding a PG. i am for the tmac deal as long as we dont give them the TE too. that should be used to net a solid 4.
so i guess Elton Brand won't satisfide you as a "solid 4"? yipengzhao&Rocket River: we're trading equal salaries. SF3=Max contract=Brand's. Mobley+Taylor+Pike = Allen+Daniels. so, in your opinion, if we don't make any trade now you'd want all those players(Cat&Mo) out when signning Yao long term? RocketFan85: sorry but we don't have Okur. if you can somehow get Okur after you aquired T-Mac, then you can do the same thing to get Okur with my trades. isn't Yao+Brand+Allen+Daniels+Okur(behind Yao) better than Yao+T-Mac+Okur (at 4)? i don't see how it happen though. pasox2: remember? it was the Kings offered CWebb for Cat & Mo(or Cato) + picks a few month ago. peleincubus: sorry for starting another thread. it's not all about T-Mac though. my point is what we really need are players like Brand & Allen & Daniels and my proposal of getting them. especially no one on this board has mentioned Daniels before, he's the real deal ,imo.
oh don't get me wrong. you're trade proposal is clearly preferable in my book at least to the TMac proposal. That team would be a favorite to win it all next year. however, aren't Brand and Allen's deals long term? Will there be enough money left over to sign Yao when his rookie contract expires. That's my question. Les is no Mark Cuban.
Really? I don't remember this. Do you have a link for this rumor or is this just message board fodder / crappy journalist dreamcasting.
oh c'mon, any one read the article that says "CD was seriously considering an CWebb for Cat+Cato+? offer to protect Yao Ming?" it was like 3 or 4 months ago, i can't find the link now
I don't think Sacr is parting with Webber - their 'championship window' will close in a year or two because of age - so Webber has more value to them than anyone else. And they are cap-strapped. IF we could R.Allen without giving up Francis or Yao - DO IT!! I think I would give Seattle whoever else they wanted to get that deal done and I would throw in a draft pick or two. Cat/JJ/Boki/Pike/Cato/trade exception/future lotto protected #1 FOR Ray Allen 13.5 mil through 2005/ Booth 5.5mil through 2007/ James 4.5 mil through 2005 That backcourt would be SWEEEEET!! If we could keep JJ or they would take MoT, then the deal is wonderful for us - if not, it is still a good deal. PG - SF SG - Allen SF - who cares (JJ/Pike/Boki/whoever Seattle doesn't want) PF - MoT (noone will take his contract off of our hands)/Spoon C - Yao / backup up the Seattle Cs with crappy contracts that Seattle would make us take to get the deal done.
Well, Allen is a good fit but I would still take Rashard over Ray anyday. IF we could get Rashard without giving up SF or Yao well that would be 3 stars capable of showering points on any given night. Plus they would all be relatively young.
