Thunder fans losing it because Rockets got Anfernee Şengun

    I was listening to the Locked on Rockets Podcast with Jackson Gatlin today and he had Ben Dubose on to discuss Josh Christopher (JayGupta) amongst other things. One of the most interesting tidbits was how the OKC Locked On Podcaster (Rylan Stiles) has an episode from the previous day titled "Is the Houston Rockets rebuild ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder". So you bet I quickly checked-out and switched over cuz I'm all about schadenfreude when it comes to OKC, UTAH and DAL.

    here are some highlights...

    --- a few months ago every analyst and his mother would have put OKC's rebuild was way ahead of Houstons by a wide wide margin. and after a few summer league games, the script has been switched and all thanks to Anfernee Şengun! --- Stiles

    --- This is now Sam Presti's legacy. The national media ignores the fact he drafted 3 MVPs. Şengun has been so good during summer league, and Stiles was so upset on draft night when they traded him, that this is now the defining moment for Presti going forward.

    --- OKC's rebuild is going at a snail's pace. Houston is experiencing INSTANT gratification. Houston has KPJ, Green, Wood, Şengun. We have hit on our two tops guys. Whereas Thunder are still in wait and see mode.

    --- They're having buyer's remorse and wish they drafted Kuminga.

    --- Once again they are really really upset about letting Anfernee Şengun go for 2 unknown picks.

    --- "I would much rather be a Houston fan right who can say our GM has done everything right at this point in time..." - Ryan Stiles

    --- they got KPJ for nothing but what if Tre Mann goes out and scores 40 points?

    --- "rockets fans are on cloud 9 right and all you can do is sit back and take it"

    --- rockets fans are eating hot pockets. yes. trust me. he said this.

    --- congratulations to rockets fans. they're taking a victory lap now.

    Ehh OKC's rebuild is ahead of the Rockets.

    They have Shai Alexander who is an all star and young..... Maledon is a good young guard and they have high upside players in Giddy and Poku... and solid long term pieces in Dort and Bazley.

    They also have long term payroll flexibility and a lot of future draft picks....

    Honestly, the better long term bet (Houston/OKC) may in large part depend on which team gets a higher draft pick in 2021-2022 and how the young players develop for both teams this season..... I think Maledon is going to be very good and one of Giddey/Poku will be an all star.

    Houston is going to be a more attractive destination as a city...... and Houston has some very high ceiling players as well..... the Rockets future in part depends on what they can get for Wood in a trade... the Rockets really need a very high draft pick in the 2022 draft to go with some of their other young players.... I personally think the Rockets will be looking for a point guard in the 2022 NBA draft unless they land in the top 3-4 picks, where they would take one of the post players, regardless of positional needs.

    There was part of me that hoped the Rockets would deal some of the assets from the Nets to get Suggs to play next to Green.... he is a lot like Chauncey Billups and knows how to win games.

    The podcast just seems to be a lot of crying and nonsense. No one knows what will happen in the future. The Thunder only have their own fans to blame its not like Houston fans are attacking Presti. Maybe a small joke, Ive seen one here thats it. I mostly see that from Thunder fans themselves.

    Its definitely an overreaction. But can you imagine the fallout if Şengün has another good game tonight ?

    While this is true, I feel like OKC fans would rather have Houston's roster.

    As a Rockets fan, I'd rather have our roster over OKC's roster.
