Well played. But isn’t the max different for every player, and partially based on their previous contract and service time?
Everyone’s a comedian. That’s actually not true. There is a maximum amount he is allowed to sign for. What is it?
No. It’s not based upon previous contract at all. You’re thinking of Non-Bird and Early Bird exceptions The Max is the same for everyone of same tenure. It is a percentage of the Cap. there are three tiers based upon how many yrs you’ve played. 25%, 30% or 35% The supermax allows you to jump one tier, if you meet criteria, and your team hasn’t exhausted their supermax allotments
You could wait three years and make a thread about who’s going to get paid in three years @Os Trigonum
I think people are really discounting Wood. He was the center piece, no pun intended, behind a 6 game win streak w/o Harden, until he got hurt. Also, Wood does not have a lot of mileage, although he's 25, his usage rate compares to a 22-23 yr old NBA player. So, if you look at it he is more in line with our current core. To me, it depends on how well the core mix together and how far they get this yr. If they can get to 9th or 10th Seed this yr and look like a 6th or 7th Seed or higher during the 2022 - 2023 Season, you got to sign Wood to a near max or max. If they win big, there may come a day when the Rockets may need to get Wood, Green, Sengun and KPJ and lay the cards on the table, similar to how the Heat did with Dwayne, Lebron and Bosh.
Why Harden has had incredible runs with Houston and lost to all time great team in GS and pushed them to the limit. this year in Brooklyn he was putting up 24/8/11 and commanding the best offense ever and letting KD and kyrie do their thing while getting the role players going. if kpj turns into Harden we’re in good shape green isn’t a ball dominate player he’ll be just fine with a playmaker pick and roll guy like KPJ.
