That is insane. I think with a few more pieces, they might end up having a decent team around Beal.

I hope Rafa can get away from this major screw up.

No praise at all. Just shocked that we ended up with a player that's toward the end of his career along with his bloated contract.....and the Wizards ended up smart and picked up some good players to work with.

I think taking on Russ' contract was just the price for taking on Kuzma's trash ass.

i see maybe 1 or 2 decent players at best. and dinwiddie was the one who decided he wanted to play for wash. but i wouldn't call any of this smart. the wizards still will suck

They turned a massive contract into a mediocrity treadmill eh. I'd be more impressed if they turned it into a bunch of draft picks

The Wizards need to be selling high on Beal and tanking.

Stone did what the Wizards should be doing…being bad enough for a #2 overall pick and a young talent like Jalen Green

Why should we care that the Wizards GM ultimately turned Wall into a bunch of irrelevant players and signed Dinwiddie for 20 mil/yr??

The list isn't all that impressive to me (it's good if you want to scrap for the play-in/8th seed), but they didn't mention the first-round pick they had to give up as well. The Rockets flipped that and another protected first for Alperen Sengun.

But with a few more pieces, we will have a pretty decent team around Wall. If a few things go our way, we could be making a real push in 2023 even though we took on Wall’s contract.

Breaking news: Wizards swapped a 4 gallon bottle of water for 2 X 2 gallon bottles.

    How'd they do?

(Wake me up when something exciting happens)

Also, they gave up more assets than just John Wall to get back that "haul"

By trading Russ, we avoided giving our pick to OKC. And, we get Jalen.
Then, with the first rounder from the Wall deal, we get Sengun.
    Not bad at all.
Then we use Wall's expiring in a deal for a young star at the deadline next year.(barring a buyout/trade for expirings & shorter deals than can be moved)

We are in a much better position than the Wiz. We will get a better haul for Wall than they have. I trust Stone to use that huge expiring salary to get a very nice young player and/or more draft capital to build the team. We just have to be patient and wait for the deadline or next year to cash Wall in. We got time.

And what does Dinwiddie have to do with Westbrook? did they get cap room in order to sign Dinwiddie? Also, where is the 2023 1st round Wizards pick that was 50% of the reason that we got Sengun?
