    As a role player?

Sure. When he clamped down Cade, that's his role.

Plus running the floor with his hair on fire and throwing down thunder dunks.

Hypothetically, would this Summer league win the NCAA tournament?

    I think yes

I still can't quite get over Detroit throwing double and triple teams at JG yesterday. It's just so wildly bizarre to see that in a Summer League game, but maybe Detroit was just that desperate for Cade to come out on top of the individual match-up?? Either way, pretty funny to see it, and pretty nice to see JG's adjustment after the first quarter.

A 19 yr old in his second sort of NBA game had turnovers in the first qtr against a double, triple teaming defense as he brought the ball past half court. Color me shocked. You know who else had issues with this? James Harden.

What impressed me was the way Green adjusted and only had one more turnover in the last three qtrs.

Just like I suspected it was just a way to admonish the kid further. I know its not a big deal, but I find it interesting how some of the arguments are framed and the lengths people will go to try and prove a wrong point.

edit: when Jalen has to play point guard I'll worry.

When you say had a bad game, what are your expectations from Green?

Bro, you gotta stop trying to act that every criticism to your favorite player is ill-intentioned. I stand by everyone of my points, and you need to be more charitable to other opinions.

I think his first game was a good game.
My expectation is for him to have good and bad games.

For regular season, I'd expect some 15ppg, good (not great) efficiency, low assist and TOs number. So, a season similar to Edwards on average, but with maybe fewer peaks and valleys.

    We have different expectations,

I expect him to learn from his mistakes as a young 19 year old. Which he's clearly doing. He had a bad first qtr, not a bad game. In fact being able to bounce back from a bad start and play well is a trait all great players have. The future is bright.

It seems like the only place we differ is whether we thought his bad game was a bad one or not. I also have the same expectations you listed--I expect him to learn and get better, and that he has an exciting future ahead of him.

Charitable? HA! You sat there with a straight face and your video with no context creating a narrative! This comment is too funny!

This is crazy. My comment was replying to somebody, the context was already there! We were discussing Jalen Green's decision making.

But I think we can at least agree to disagree? No point in taking this conversation any further, people here don't want to read about us arguing dumb ****.

Just want to point out that between Okoro, Cade/Hayes, Barnes, and Suggs/Wagner, Jalen is going against some of the best perimeter defenders in all of summer league barring Mitchell. It's a trial by fire and if he makes it out looking this good, he really may be something special.

So it was 4 turnovers right? But sure - you can hold onto his "bad plays" because without context and casually speaking they were.

FWIW Jalen Green had 1 turnover in game 1 and is averaging 2.5 per contest so far in summer league and In 16 games of GLeague action he averaged 2.7

Did you catch the part during his interview where he mentions having too many turnovers? Self awareness is a gift.

Okay, here is the context for what this dude is saying for the people bored enough to be curious about this: https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/summer-league-2021.312092/page-150#post-13672889

I'll leave it to the reader to determine whether the number of TOs was the important part or if it was the decision making, and whether Verbal Christ has a working definition of the words "nonchalant" and "context".

Edit: Just to be clear, I was quoting Verbal Christ, but not replying to him, since I felt there was nothing left to say. I simply do not want words to be put in my mind and thoughts put in my head. This conversation is way too heated for what I want to get out of in a Rockets forum.

Dog you sat there and told me to watch the tape!! You wanted me to see things through your lens and it was wrong. When your claim was disproven you just NONCHALANTLY went on to say "well they were still bad plays" - not sure where the disconnect is and why I'm the culprit. The guy was blitzed for the first time in his basketball life how would you expect him to react? Like Magic Johnson?

"there were players open" is such a flimsy and subjective take that its not even worth extrapolating if the very premise of the argument is flawed.

Again, I disagree entirely. I'm pretty confident people can read the context and figure out for themselves. Further, I'm certain this back-and-forth is making other people's experience here worse.
    So, case closed?

You’re doing too much. Green’s decision making was obviously subpar (again, this is Summer League and he’s 19), especially in contrast to Cade, who had problems of his own.

Green will need to substantially improve his court awareness to become a top 10 player.

LOL the GARM is really being blessed with some epiphanies on this fine Wednesday.

JG made a few bad plays yesterday - groundbreaking.
"He still has time to be good" - Inspiring
"blah blah blah to become top 10" - What?

Yes. This team would not lose a single game in the NCAA. They would blow out every team easily.
