Yes, I would have used the first round picks to move Wall instead of moving up to number 16 (figured it would take more than that to move to #16) but Sen-Goonie has been a pleasant surprise to me. Moving Wall seems like a bigger priority to me; But good call by management. I have to adjust my draft grade from B+ to A- Christopher is still an incomplete
I don't see Wall moving. We're under the cap so his cost doesn't matter, and he's Silas' favorite. Garuba and Christopher look to me like they're primed for the "Martin" treatment last season. End of bench guys who get minutes here and there during blow outs, get sent off to the g league, and get more PT towards the seasons end. No clue on Thomas, but he'd be better as a TWP over Lamb who sucks. We still have trade season upcoming now that the draft and FA is almost over. Teams like Portland, Jazz, Dallas, the Kings, and Philadelphia are going to make moves. I could see us fitting in as a facilitators and possibly moving the role players like House, Augustin, and maybe Gordon in those deals. A decent trade for me would be EG for Ingles and a 2nd and then we buy out Ingles as he's an expiring contract.
I think it’s worth noting that Green has seen some tough defenders these past 2 games. Okoro, Hayes, Bey and Cade. I’m impressed, it’s not like he’s out here cookin scrubs or hunting mismatches. This bodes very well going forward.
Clutch must be having a blast out in Vegas. You'd hope two of the four would eventually pan out, right. That'd be a win, but nah Houston looks like they found themselves four absolute beauties. Sengun and Green are everything we could've hoped for and so much more. I'm just going to give Usman the nod as we've seen his work overseas and he's a monster on the defensive end. Meanwhile Jaygup has gone from being viewed as merely Green's buddy to winning over the hearts and minds of the fans. A lot of work lies ahead of them, but these young men all appear to have stellar character and a burning passion for basketball. It may just be summer league, but the future of our Houston Rockets is blindingly bright my brothers and sisters. It's going to be one hell of a ride. To the moon!
I really wanted to watch Armoni Brooks play. Toward the end of the season his defense got better and he was drilling everything.
Moving Wall makes no sense it would cost assets and will serve 0 purpose as the Rox arent gonna compete the next 2-3 yrs.
Not gonna be a welcomed post but I thought that was an a pretty bad game by Green. I rewatched the game on replay, paused and rewinded most of his plays to see what was going on Positives were - his 3PT shot, quick, smooth, went in. Aggression when attacking leading to 10fts is really good. Good shot IQ, didn’t take too many bad shots. Negatives - Two big ones Defensive awareness was absolutely brutal, he was lost all night whenever playing off ball, sometimes in a ridiculous fashion, him wondering off his man and forgetting who he was guarding collapsed the D multiple times, him wrongly going under screens directly lead to 4 scored 3’s. I expect his lack of strength to be a problem, I expect rookie fouls, but there’s no reason for him to be that mindless on basic decision making and awareness. His poor off ball D alone directly lead to 15+ points 2nd was his reaction to pressure and traps, he turned it over 5 times (box score missed one) and they were all pretty bad. His reactions were terrible, instead of making decisive quick passes to teammates he chose to mindlessly dribble into a turnover multiple times. He additionally made 3 bad passes where the speed/location of the pass was way off, that could have easily lead to turnovers if weren’t for good reactions by KJ and poor timing by Piston defenders. When pressured he folded, his handle nor his passing IQ could handle it. Just a summer league game, and half of it could be easily solved with some film sessions and focus / discipline, but also a bit worrying that his IQ on D and passing is so rough right now
Green's off ball defense is a work in progress, this is not really news. He says he is committed to getting better on D but unlikely it happens overnight, let alone in one season.
These youngsters have me pumped! I never thought I would be waking up at 3am to watch live a summer league game, but I didn't want to miss a second of the game... Alp is great, he impacts the game in so many ways...He needs as much playing time as possible. Green was ok, I didn't like his play in the first quarter, but he will get used to tighter defense and adapt. Jay was much better than in the first game. Future sixt man of the year. And we're missing Garuba...Boy do we have a great young core. Exciting times ahead
Love this team, all starters brought something to the table! Do have to say that people need to temper their expectations regarding Green. Hope Sengun looks this comfortable against NBA talent. Christopher has some passing skills and might be our ball handler off the bench. Also credit to Cunningham, he looked good and very poised, really a leader.
Everything coming together really quickly. Then you would have Usman to make great hustle and defensive plays, we set!
They did 4 years of "tanking" at once. All in which their superstar wore a fat suit to get out of Fertitta Island and Wood broke his ankles because high top sneakers are beneath him. This led to Brooklyn picks, KPJ, Green, Sengun, Garuba and Green's besty who is pretty gewd. KPJ is a high lottery pick if not for the 'attitude'. Sengun is a high lottery pick and Green should have been the first pick. Cray how things turn out with a little luck to get the ball rolling.
