He adjusted very well in the second half. He had quite a few nice passes out of the double to teammates that either couldn't make the shot or got fouled.
He’s gonna be a very productive and efficient star. Uneven performance tonight but he’s an amazing talent. I thought both him and Cade did some good things and also showed they are 19-yr old rookies. Both Detroit and Houston should be excited. I’m still over the moon about how everyone else played
He had errand passes for sure, and he wasn't ready for the Pistons blitz, but honestly I wouldn't attribute this to a low IQ problem. This strategy is the same thing teams do to Harden and Curry to varying degree of success, and it requires his teammates getting in the right position just as much as Green reading the right pass.
I didn't think Cade looked that good at all! I would say he looked o.k. and Jalen looked pretty good overall. Would have been great if not for his warts showing. He does need to improve his ball handling ability. Maybe we (Clutchfans) should pitch in and get him these:
He did I was impressed. He is a far more well rounded player than green. I'd say Cade won this round vs Green. But here's the thing, Cade has had a lot more experience and time to grow into what he is than Green - who is - very Green. With that context Green looked downright scary in his potential. My feeling is that Cade is the better player today, but Green has the opportunity to be the better player tomorrow
yeah and its a balance.. you can't just simply panic and pass right when the double team comes.. that will lead to turnovers.. and that's what the opponents want. the ball out the the best scorer's hands. so green took double teams and either shot efficiently or drew contact..
Yeah, I noticed that too. Sengun in the 1st game was positioned well inside the paint at times too and was asking for the ball but Green decided to shoot or drive-in. Good thing those baskets fell through. But he needs to get Sengun more involved especially when Sengun is in the paint.
Well they thought he was an sf lol. Turns out Cade was just a big guard same as Green. Tbh as a pg Cade is still worthy of no 1 pick. But they need to trade away Killian Hayes, dump him for a pick or something. I dont think its gon a work with Cade at sf or sg off the ball he needs the ball in hjs hands.
I think overall Cade had a better game than Green despite the stats. Cade played better defense and also made some solid passes. With better players around Cade, he is definitely going to be a star. Green needs to learn to make quick adjustments when things are not going as expected.
One was being doubled and blitzed and the other wasn’t. And Cade still had just as many turnovers as Green. Cade’s defense was solid but he had 7 fouls lol. Not exactly good. Green clearly won this matchup today.
Cade is definitely the more complete player right now, but I’d rather have Green at this point. Green has an elite skill, and a path to develop on everything else. I’m not sure Cade has a single elite skill…he’s more of a Jack of All Trades type guy. Also…any criticisms of Greens offensive IQ are WAAAAY off, and are likely happening because people are putting 10 year vet Harden standards on a rookie. He was getting double and triple teamed out there…it took Harden several seasons to figure out how to handle that. Green made an in game adjustment, and went on to lead all scorers on just 11 shots, plus the W. He is VERY advanced at knowing when to pick his spots. Really, I’m amazed at how he’s just letting the game come to him. That takes a lot of discipline and maturity.
They won't be able to pull that when his homie KPJ is on the court. They should have been watching Christopher.
lol was about to say the same thing. we’ve been watching Harden on the 10 best offensive players ever deal with all this crazy trapping/blitzing u name it. Harden is a big PG like lebron. Green is a legit SG I don’t expect him to be controlling the offense he’s gonna get buckets like a Kobe hopefully. he knows the reads but he’s not the playmaker that Harden. I don’t want to compare the two just cause both are SGs. But we all know Harden is a floor general who happens to be 6’6 230lbs lol. Green is going to be a good player he need weight/strength with that alone it will help his handle out just so he doesn’t get pushed around and the ball taken from him. he’s a skinny kid but he needs to add a solid 20lbs atleast to his frame ASAP.
To me right now it looks like Cunningham is further along in his developement than Green (which is funny, because Green is the one with pro-experience) - but Green is the one with the bigger talent. Cade looks more mature and has already developed a great all around game - Green looks a little wild, especially on defense and when faced with double teams. That being said, Green still is at least on the same level as Cade. And when you have a guy with higher talent level and a monster work ethic, Green should show he is the better player pretty soon. I believe Cade will be a very good player - but he won‘t be the first option on a contender. Green has all the tools to be just that! (Right now, I would say Sengun is outplaying the whole Summer League roster though…).
It's interesting with Green. I feel like he was completely out of control and looked terrible at a few moments and I kept seeing flaws in his game, but when you look at the end of the game he put up a +17 and was extremely efficient. Once things slow down a bit and he figures how he fits in more he will be absolutely deadly. It makes me even more encouraged for his future. Another 10 lbs of strength and conditioning will definitely help him as well. Cade pushed him around a few times and you tell it really irritated Green.
