My take away from tonight's game. Sengun was amazing, love what I saw from him. Still can't believe we gave two of our worst protected picks for him. JC looked better today. he seem more prepared coming into the game, was very aggressive. Jalen green was nice wish he was more aggressive and assertive but he was just playing in the flow of the game. It was clear that the piston had defensive schemes for him that game. They had alot of blitz, traps, and doubles. Started off the gate slow but picked it up. Was still impressed with his patience and maturity. The sky is the limit for him.
I was stunned at Sengun's vertical one handed alley oop! He gave me a lot of hope. His 3 point shot was awesome. He played like a top 5 pick in this game. @ApacheWarrior
Would've loved it. Detroit forced to double and triple Green while Motorcade struggles to get off El Coco's island.
KPJ Green Tate Wood Sengun line up with KMJ JC and Usman coming off the bench seem so fun with great potential.
I can't believe they had a game plan for green in summer league smh. They are so pathetic but whatever this will make green only better and I thought he handle it perfectly beside starting the game off with a couple turnovers.
Jalen Green Kevin Porter Jr Josh Christopher Alperen Sengun Kenyon Martin Jr Christian Wood Usman Garuba This team is stacked! Solid Young Core!
Maybe this is premature, but I sorta feel like we've seen all we need to see out of JC, Green, Sengun, and Martin in the Summer League? I'm not worried about them getting injured or anything (I hope they dont), I just think they're not going to benefit from added court time, whereas some of the other guys will. I'd rather see Hurt get more minutes, Garuba play when he arrives, and the others compete and get minutes. My bigger worry is with the FO and the plan going into the season. If I'm going to guess, I think the plan for the starters will be: Wall KPJ Green Wood Tate Bench guys will be: EG Nwaba Augustin House Sengun Theis Martin I'm not sure who the odd men out of the bench group will be. It's possible Silas going to the MDA route of alternating some of the bench guys nightly - one night, House comes off the bench, the next night Martin.Which will leave Garuba and Chrstopher out, and they'll probably get sent to the G League during the season and return when it's done the way Martin and KPJ did last season. This to me is the likely approach, but I don't think it's the right one. Maybe the team just wants to keep up EG, Wall, and House's value. I don't think there's a real chance Wall gets traded before the deadline unless he absolutely ball's out and a team gets desperate, but even then his salary is just so high that I don't see it. Gordon I do see traded around the deadline, and I could see the same for House. If it were up to me, we'd embrace the youth movement right now, and start KPJ, Green, Martin, Sengun, and Wood, and bring Tate, Christopher, Garuba, Nwaba, and Theis off the bench. Nothing against Wall, Augustin, EG, or House, but they no longer fit the teams timeline and will just stunt the growth of the others, though I don't think the team is going this direction and think the FO and Silas are still trying to bring some of the young guys along slowly.
Or start the vets but give the young guns the majority if the minutes. Still have to showcase the vets and be sensitive to their status. That said, there are just not enough minutes to go around. House, at the very least, needs to be traded. Augustin as well since Wall's contract ensures he's not going anywhere.
