Tie your beer cooler rope tightly to yours, that saves some extra paddinling to get it back.

Buy your own tube at any full service filling station. They are only about $10, about the cost of one days rental.

Don't jump out of the trees into the river. Trust me. A foot that is broken in three places takes over a year to heal.

I personally like the Comal in New Braunfels. That's the easiest river to drink on because there are no rapids that you have to get out of your tube for.

Roy's Corner Tubes is the best. We used to go so much that he would chip in to help us buy our beer. Nice guy.

Ditto on the Comal. You can pretty much stay in your tube the whole time. Only problem is that the river flow has to be steady, otherwise you'll keep moving towards the edge.

Also, don't get out of your tube and piss in people's yards. They get really angry. And, common courtesy is to keep your empty beer cans in your cooler until you get out.

I lived in the Austin area for eight years and didn't float the river once. That's changing June 12!

i like the comal too. some of the more popular tube rental places are rockin r and texas tubes. one of my fraternity bros works at texas tubes, which equals free tubes :p. the comal is warmer than the guadalupe too, which is usually a plus. expect a lot of folks, especially if the weathers nice. and definitely post up by the cooler, preferably tied to it.

we usually float the blanco here in san marcos since it ends up at a pretty popular party/hang-out spot and it's a whole hell-of-a-lot more laid back.

floating is one of the greatest things about texas. i probably go about once or twice a week during the summer. have fun and drink a few for me.

Thanks for the advice guys - I'll be slathering on the sunscreen and showing off the best golf tan this side of the PGA Tour. Trust me, when people see the sun reflecting off my white skin, they'll be glad they have their sunglasses on. :D
