I can't wait for this match-up! I think Cade may try to drop 30, but his jumper better be wet because Josh Christopher may be on him and you get 10 fouls in summer league! Some people may think me comparing Cade to D’Angelo Russell is an insult or something. I’m looking at athletic traits, body type and play style. DLo can drop 40 on your head and is a star, he just isn’t a transcendent player. These guys are all familiar with each other. It’s going to be fun. You know Green is going to be amped, he’s already said as much pre draft and after he was taken 2nd. Hopefully he plays within himself and doesn’t let the moment get to him. I think he lives for these situations though. This will be his first professional pop quiz. He talked it, now he has to walk it. Most guys wouldn't put that kind of pressure on themselves and would give the politically correct answer, but he has been telling everybody that will listen that he is better than Cade for quite some time so this is interesting to see.
Several impressive debuts, but efficiency matters. Guess who's the only one of the five to shoot at least 50% from the field? (hint...he wears Rocket Red!)
Wait a minute ... are you trying to tell me that FIT actually matters??? --------> /S Sadly for DET it will take 1-2 years before they realize the team as assembled is not maximized. They will have to trade Hayes and other players to make sure Cade has the type of guys around him that WILL fully utilize his strengths while simultaneously making the support players better. Big reason why I wanted Green for THIS Rocket team. He plugs right into the lineup and timeline beautifully.
I was thinking about this last night. The young Rockets really do fit well together. Green and KPJ are obviously complementary as a 1 and 2. but it’s more than that. Sengun is more of a banger, Wood more finesse, Garuba and Tate bring defensive versatility. Christopher and KMJ are high upside guys that play different positions. It’s really going to be fun watching them gel.
You have to have a vision. Whatever that is - GM/Coach with a unified approach at what they feel will win. Way better than the "just get the best player and hope for the best" approach that various teams take to a decade long rebuild. This team can become competitive faster than some would want to give them credit. You have ballers on this team that know how to play and are not intimidated by "stars" its just a matter of chemistry and practice time before it all comes together. Its a bang-up job by Stone and his staff. Roster looks well organized and able to give all the players time to develop. We suddenly have a little logjam in the front court, but thats a good problem to have. If anything it will be fun to watch these guys grow together. Its very "WarriorsEsque" how this squad is being assembled and thats a great thing.
Hopefully Jalen does what he said he would do which was show Detroit that they made a mistake for not drafting him first
