For those curious about his unique routine, here’s what he had to say about the change he made this year: https://www.fiba.basketball/eurobas...ocused-on-being-a-role-model-for-younger-guys
I heard a Giannis FT count during the game. "It is a kind of prayer, I am trying to motivate myself by talking to the ball, saying things like: 'You need to make this! It is very important' and similar. I think I need to change this routine, some of my teammates also told me to change it, because it takes more than 10 seconds for me to shoot the ball during the free throws. It is okay in the Turkish League, but they warn me in Europe if I pass 10 seconds. I shoot better when I take my time a little bit, I miss the ones that I shoot in a rush. I will work on this," he said.
He's a great player, but he's also a bit quirky which I really like actually. He didn't try and act like the current zeitgeist idea of a "modern big" he just did his **** his way and played great. He can pray as much as he wants if it helps him put the ball in the hoop as far as I care.
He did not take too long. No need to change. Matter of fact, the other rookies should learn the prayer
"It’s time to go home, ball." *free throw misses* "Son of a b**** ball! Why didn’t you go home?! That’s your home! Are you too good for your home?! Answer me!"
Intrigued seriously, he just needs to keep doing it like he does. Look at Giannis who gets 10-20 seconds. Love how opponents count down and hate it too!
i expect him to once in a while start crying during like an intense playoff game at the ft line. then act like nothing happened after the game during interviews/press conf
He shouldnt change it, I dont give a f what he does as long as it goes in. Dude's shooting 80% from ft he can do whatever the F he wants.
