A question I would have for OPs friend, is why doesn’t China respect the sovereignty of other countries?

Here’s one example of imposing their power disregard and disrespect to Peru of all countries :

Welp, it’s been almost two years since Morey made his fateful tweet...and guess what, the Rockets are doing just fine.

    Unsurprising.

Our sports teams have nothing to do with a foreign country’s overly sensitive regulations. Also: Rockets games are being shown here in China again so I guess Houston won this little spat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Morey defending Hong Kong sovereignty is that big of an issue? How are people not allowed to exist among mainstream Chinese suppose to feel? Why can't the CCP look at it from that perspective?

andthat doesnt even touch on their situation with the ughuirs. Thats forced work camps, forced abortions all on someones ethnicity or religion...amazing its going by like this as it is there and myanmar.

Then their predatory abusive labor practices that many of our american companies turn their eye to as well. All in all CcP is great for their self sustainance and power...not for the world, maybe not their constituents. All the more scary when you hear people demand a ccp like loyalty here in the us. We have dissent, free speech, we're not supposed to only sing praise for our dear leaders like some people want for the rockets owner and some people want for the president. America was always about freedom, enterprise, free speech and being able to have agency over your life and participating in those ideals and democracy was patriotic as was defending and serving our country, now its go hug or wear a flag overtly like its some stupid theme park and don't critisize or you're not loyal.

In some ways , ccp has won that culture war

Are we apologizing to them about their Human rights record, their record on ethnic and racial cleansing, their fabulous stance on religion, or their stance on the LQBTQ crowd? Which one do we need to apologize to them for first? Or are we apologizing for LeBron who can have his shoes made for $2 there by workers making .20 cents an hour while he sells them to you for $200 and screams about social injustice in this country while the people making his shoes can't take a piss without permission and would be imprisoned for half of what comes out his 4th grade educated mouth and then becomes dead silent when those same people are crying out for Freedom in the streets of Hong Kong since his unofficial stance was "Shut up and make my shoes unless you are kneeling for the flag!"

    you all make great points
that doesnt mean we have to goto the media fodder and make lebron some enemy

Lets look at what kerr and Lebron were dealing with. and they both mentioned its not about them its about their staff and teammates guys who are barely on an nba roster who goto china, staff, make deals and get their bread and they have not an ounce of security that lebron has...china cancelled all their jobs and gigs in that moment. Samething with kerr. Its like us, we'd talk about it, but if they said your brother best freind, co workers who are underneath you will lose their work because of what you said..then its different. I agree with what you're saying, the hyporcisy rather than sports players should be aimed at the policy makers or lack there of. We have the first amendment, right to protest...its simply a fundamental american thing to grow our country to challenge our conturny bc in a democracy its shaped by populace...if its shaped by one leader, then we become china...so there is nothing more than moving towards being like china when we had that surge of demanding overt patriotism and downright silly dear leader type of stuff.
America is great because of freedom, both of what we agree with and what we dodn't. That people can do what they want and have enterprise to grow and achieve what they want. So likewise Biden is in there in his negotiations of the tPP...the irony doesn't fall on these kids as they use apple iphoens and nike to say social justice while those same companies use other minority minor hands to exploit...likewise then you have trump, the guy who talks tough on china and him and his daughter spent their career manufacturing their, but yea...only 'he can fix it'...sounds like president Xi or his friend Kim jon almost adn americans cheer that on? Or the patents while meeting them...hyporcisy is all around, a basketball player is the least important, but will defintiely give good headlines to the sensationalist media

and why is that not surprising? bc cCP plays it dirty, always has. They don't stand for anyhting but their own power

I dunno, why don’t so many Americans not respect the sovereignty of our own country?

    Also, free Hong Kong.

Being in bed with China always felt wrong. I wasnt too upset when they banned the Houston Rockets. Yao was a great player, human and ambassador for the game, but having to deal with that power structure and their "permission" when it pertained to Yao was just off putting. Glad its over. Fk China.

It was China's fault that Yao became injury prone. playing all those summers so they could suck in the olympics

It's almost like the constant virtue signaling done by NBA and people like Lebron,Pop and Kerr have nothing to so with their actual beliefs. If their money and job is on the line they don't care about what's "right" but only when they can comfortably say it without having to expect any negative consequences.
