I would have been a fan of acquiring him a month ago, and I was hoping the Rockets would make a deal for him at the deadline last year. But with Sengun, Garuba and Theis here now on top of Wood, I just don't see a need. Between Wood and Sengun, they have plenty of offensive-minded bigs already. Markkanen's a talented dude, though; he's just got to find the right fit.
Steph/Klay going to get attention on the outside, Wiseman/Draymond in the inside. Kuminga will work by and slip through the cracks under the radar. Warrior in my username but not a Warriors fan. The opposite in fact. But I do respect the game and see the Warriors as a top 5 team in the West Steph, Klay, Draymond, Poole, Wiseman, Otto Porter, Kuminga, Wiggins, Moses Moody, Bjelica, Looney
Okay, I can get behind this now. Gordon for Markkanen sign and trade? 2 year full MLE w/ team or player option for 2nd year? The misspellings around here will be comical if we got him but don't know if we really want him. Could be a good trade chip later in the season and rehab some of his value. Really need to trade House and Gordon soon to free up minutes. Or offer Augustin + House?
I bet we are one of those teams. Just because we have a couple new bigs on the roster doesn’t mean we should shy away from Markkanen. We still need size and we still need shooting. In fact, if we signed Markkanen, he’d instantly be both our tallest player and best shooter. We need to keep acquiring young talent and let things play out. We can always trade players to address fit and playing time later.
I'd be down for that, but it sounds like Markkanen would get more than the MLE. I'm also not sure how interested they'd be in EGo. They already have a crowded backcourt in Lonzo/Lavine/Caruso/White. They need frontcourt depth and I'm not so keen on giving up any of our frontcourt guys.
Interesting, wonder if we could get a young player + 2 1st round picks back for Wood? Or maybe just 3 1st round picks but hoarding picks isn't necessarily the best strategy. Still vote to keep Wood but it is an intriguing thought.
Trading Wood right now makes no sense. I think you trade him when it's clear he's reached another level in his play, and you'll either have to sign him to a bigger deal that you don't want to do, or let him walk for nothing. Until then, you have him on a very reasonable contract, he's young, and he's still developing certain aspects of his game. He's a guy that can still grow with KPJ and Green.
Holy crap how many J Greens are there? This puts me at Jalen, Josh, Jamaychal, Jeff, Javonte. If anyone starts calling Jalen "JGreen" like the generic nicknaming scheme would suggest Imma be annoyed lol And that's not even considering famed "The Fault in our Stars" author John Green.
