Forgiven loans are counted as income and instead paying taxes on there income he claimed he still owes the money in losses which allowed him to get a massive refund. In fact I'm sure that's the main reason for the IRS audit that Trump jeeps on lying about. He's laying about not being able release his tax returns during an audit. He's not lying about getting audited by the IRS. That is true and they have good reason to audit him.
