I would be ok taking on Simmons in 2 years, but for now we can’t take on anyone who will mess up our picks. Picking top 5 is priority number 1

Simmons' D and ability as a passing big, awesome; but this is Morey we're talking about. Morey's motto? If they think your deal is outlandish and grotesque, double down.

    What's the price for Simmons?

    Simmons/Green/KPJ/Wood/ rookies

Why not? They'd all be hitting their primes in 3-8 years.

If morey wants us to take simmons he has to take wall from us and give us draft picks as well.

F Brick Simmons, what we really should be talking about is the need for another top lotto pick.

Ben is a perfect example of a player that could be an amazing player but I can tell it's not his skills or athletic ability holding him back, it's his mentality.

All this about him wanting to West to California because he's a 'socialite' is hilarious but also sad and should be a huge red flag to anyone that thinks he will ever reach his potential.

He really thinks he's a top 5 guy that can pick and choose where he gets to go but he aint that good and should be begging to go to Toronto if anything. Toronto knows what the ____ they are doing and would probably help turn his career around.

The Simmons hate narrative is hyperbolic.

Advanced stats and 76ers best record in East is proof of this.

Simmons is quickly going to replace Wall as the worst contract. Whoever gets that guy is going to get the L of the decade.

17 wins with Wall as your franchise player.

Stop with the silly hyperbole already.

Seriously, perspective my friend. Apples to apples. We are a dead end team right now with a bright future. You put Simmons on our team this last year we are just as bad. We will get out from under Wall's contracts when it doesn't matter. Some team is going to have to carry Simmons for 4 years knowing from the start it will not work out. Love just about everything about him including size, D, passing instincts. Cannot live with his shooting and lack of work ethic to fix it.

Ryno should have taught you that no team can win with a max salary not performing for you. Show me one other team that won a chip that way. Max money has to be for stars and those stars have to be stars when it counts. Simmons is not a max player making max money, its that simple. If he is so great why are they trying so hard to trade him?

Also, you have literally seen every post I have made about getting Wall outta here if possible so I have never once used Wall and franchise player in the same sentence..

No way. John Wall has 2 years left, during our young guy development + tank commander.

Ben Simmons is good enough to where he won't ever take a backseat for young guys development and we'd be stuck with him for 4 years.

Wall's contract will be a valuable expiring next year that can be moved easily. Be patient.

Its about trade value, ben simmons is obviously dealing with his worst showing and his lowest value.
In spite of that, hes still young, makes less money, he does everything WAll does but better outside of shooting and obviously we all know wall isn't a shooter. But ben simmons is a mid 20 guy, hes elite in size, athleticism ,hes an elite defender ,all nba first itme defender who can guard every postiion and is an absolute disruptor on defense..then hes also an elite playmaker, speed, handle, finisher... he obviously has a glaring hole in shooting butt
stll there are very few who can do all those things at at enlite level and sbe young...if he had a team built around him with 4 out we'd be looking at a 20-11-8 2-1 player. but its a niche you have to fit the right roster aroudn

Wall on the other hand didn't play for 2 stragith year,s plyed 40 games last year and was an inefficient chucker who never won where as ben has already been to the confernece finals.

Remember, John walls contract is right next to Lebron james. He has the worst trade value in the league.

Laughable to think just anyone, ben simmons is passing up john wall for worst contract. The issue is Darryl is just trying to get too high value for him, on the other hand john wall we'd trade for a conditional 2nd if a team would eat his contract.

I hope Morey goes thru what we went thru with Harden.

I hope Simmons trashes the 76ers organization publicly the same way Harden did.

Morey deserves alittle taste of that.

Trade value is not the same as the effect of that contract on your team. Wall is going to be gone. With Simmons you are committed. Having a guy on the court who cannot shoot makes the whole team worse. Simmons only has value now because someone believes he can be rehabilitated and like you is overvaluing all of the things he does great. Faried has great energy and put back skills and fought for rebounds and was highly valued when young. Where is he? Wiggins is a bad contract as well. Again this is about perspective. Trade value is also not in a vacuum. You have to look at the value to your team based on its current state. Philly is a chip contender with an albatross. They are in a dire position of needing to get back premium value for an asset they cannot replace that prevents them from getting an asset or assets of greater value and robs their potential. If we can just DUMP Wall we can almost infinitely spin smaller contracts or expirings with other moves to gain assets or in the end open up two max slots. It didn't work out for the Clips but who trades 5 1sts for PG13? The team that gets Kawhi for doing so. In short this is about opportunity cost that is not just a 1 for 1 evaluation of a player's value.

Also you want Simmons as basically a wing. A 3&D wing. That player needs to be able to shoot the 3. Simmons cannot do that. Simply making a living on putbacks or layups looks good in some games on a stat sheet but in reality doesn't work long term. If Simmons could shoot Philly likely wins the chip this year and no one is talking about moving him from PG. He would be a very highly rated PG, superstar. He is a very rare talent FAILING at the most important thing. There is a reason why the rest of us are not in the NBA. He has elite talents and fatal flaws. This comes from a fan of his at LSU and when he entered the league. If he had the work ethic of the greats from the past we would have seen improvement and I would have more faith in his ability to get better. His confidence is definitely a problem.

Morey knows full well they would win just as many - if not more- playoff games with Wall+Gordon than with Simmons, but it’s his last trade piece and he must get something extra out of it to attach to Harris if someone better becomes available.

If we give Morey the good pick he needs to upgrade Harris, he will take Wall and that pick for Simmons and fillers imo. Wall is expiring next summer and is almost certain to improve on last season + get more open 3pt shots next to the best and most complimentary sidekick he’s ever had (Embiid).

Wall is a whiny child sometimes, but Simmons is no team player. He’s allowed opponents to suffocate his teammates by sagging off him and has done absolutely nothing to reduce it. They all know it and the exit interviews reeked of a team that’s out of ideas other than: how about try. Just try to f’ing shoot Ben, believe in yourself rather than believing your ego.

Melo refused to give up that stance that “he is who he is” on the court and look where it got him. All the talent in the world, no rings, lots of question mark playoff exits, no particularly massive failures, great individual stats. He had a higher ceiling than that.

I digress. I think Ben is ok with being this, so whoever acquires him can’t with a straight face say they are trying to win a title.

At this point you have to wonder if it’s a better time investment to let him play regular season or send him to the G league to take 10 3pa per game till the final third of the regular season. That way he may surprise you with his shooting some games like Giannis, and if he doesn’t then your team had 2/3rds of a season to learn how to win when he sits. He has nothing left to learn in the regular season, Embiid showed him what it takes to be worth the max and a top 10 player.

    What a ridiculous situation lol.

Only way I could be excited about trading for Simmons if prior to the trade we basically tell him we will sit him out the whole season (and he agrees) while he works on his jumpshot (Fultz style) while we continue to develop our young players and get another tip 4 pick.
