Rockets.com is doing a review of the season for each player. Kelvin Cato is on the block right now. Steve Francis is up next on the 24th of May. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/review04_cato.html It's a good read to see his umprovements and high's from last season.
its good to see someone in the organization be truly objective about players outright. let's face the facts, cato is a good defensive backup center. period. his contract lasts only 2 more years, so any team that seeks bulk in the middle might be in play (a la phoenix last year, traded expiring contract in knight for jahadi white whose contract was of identical length as catos)
If we can move Cato in a package for a good big man (like Al Harrington), I jump on it. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind seeing Cato continue to be part of a three-way rotation at the 4-5. But we need someone more balanced to take Mo T's minutes. Given the choice, I would prefer to move Cato. I think other teams could potentially give up someone at a position of need for Cato.
I totally agree. I'd rather keep Cato over MoT, though. Cato has proven he can be more of a 'utility' type player at both the 4 and 5
