We should have a dedicated thread for Twitter randos tweeting obviously fake ****. Giving this its own thread was a bad idea.
Play EGo for a couple months while the kids are getting their legs under them anyway. Then trade Gordon for a lotto protected 2024 1st rounder & filler at approximately the same time you have Wall get his knee scoped. Then play the kids all the time for the last 2/3 of the season. If seeing all the money that has been thrown around over the last two days on meh players doesn't convince you that Gordon's contract (2/38) is very reasonable, nothing will.
I mean with all the teams paying a lot in taxes this year, Mr. Tilman is going to have a nice bonus check next year.
Was not advocating to acquire him... I thought someone had mentioned a 2 year deal for him... but that's not an option for a S&T player
https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/08...-exception-because-of-the-finances-maybe-not/ Free-agent scoring guards Dennis Schroder and Reggie Jackson, or a reliable 3-and-D wing such as Danny Green would be helpful, but do they move the needle enough to warrant the expensive luxury tax implications? That’s the question facing Warriors owner Joe Lacob, who is still dealing with the financial fallout of the coronavirus pandemic and just signed off on an extension that will pay Stephen Curry $216 million over another four years. As it stands, the Warriors’ roster would cost roughly $363 million in salary and luxury taxes. Using the taxpayer mid-level exception could cost the franchise upwards of $45 million in additional luxury taxes, escalating the total roster cost well past $400 million. This is significant not just because it would be a historic price, but also because it’s a mark general manager Bob Myers said “would be exceeding the limit” to what he could spend. “Even if my owner Joe wanted to do that, I think he’d had to fire me if we paid $400 million and didn’t win a championship,” Myers said during his end-of-season press conference. That’s the fundamental question: Does a player signed with the exception meaningfully increase Golden State’s chances of winning a championship?
Again. We are in no rush to trade wall and gordon or any of our players. We aren"t playing for a title. If other teams want them then they better give us what we want. If not i am ok with gordon teaching these kids how to shoot. Maybe hell Green out with his form and shot.
Gordon being a good shooter is a narrative that has really held itself through years and years of abysmal shooting.
The biggest thing he has over gordon is his contract. He has atleast 1 more year left on contract that is fully guaranteed with a possible 2nd that can become guaranteee. Oubre can even be be flipped later this year as a expiring for a pick
I feel like lauri fills a bigger need then KO Don’t get me wrong I know we need wings but we need bigs who can stretch the floor more. Wood is the only one Sengun and UG haven’t developed that yet Theis is more of a dirty work kind of big Having Lauri could let us be really versatile
