The biggest difference I see in FIBA vs NBA is reffing… there’s no kiss ass rigging and betting and favoring and **** in FIBA. NBA is rigged but I guess that’s what pays the bills.
Both Spain and Argentina fail for stretches at a time to run sets or at least do more than just dribble, maybe get a screen set and then take a long three or a contested shot after a drive inside. USA can get away with that, Australia hitting their threes which is a big difference in the score, but I really see too many guys handling the ball and trying to do it themselves. Rubio killed USA earlier in the game with that, but like against Slovenia where Rubio lost them the game, cannot continue to do that and expect to win. I've seen high praise for Rubio and deservedly so, but his selfish play should not be swept under the rug. Argentina just now with 3 horrific sets at the end of the quarter when they're down 10 points. 3 straight possessions where 1 guy tries to do it all. A contested 3 by Campazzo, they get the steal and then a weird jumping forward 3 as if the Argentinian couldn't just lay it up or get an easy shot with a 2-on-1 situation, getting the rebound and then the same guy going 1-on-1 with a shot clock violation.
Seeing both sides give Scola a standing ovation brought a tear to my eye. What an amazing career, top 5 personal favourite player of all time for me.
Guy just loves basketball. Wouldn't be at all surprised to read a story one day that he's playing pick up games at 65.
That was such a bitter-sweet moment. One half of me is like hell yeah we smashed Argentina and we are gunning for Team USA but the other half knows the Legend Luis deserved to go out better than that. Viva Scola!!!! Easily one of the biggest legends of international basketball of all time
Scola is the last of his generation of great Argentine basketball players. I don't see they have the number of quality young guys picking up the baton.
Two early fouls on Durant is the ideal start. Good job Boom Booms edit: Pop didn't take him out. That's bold
