No. Daniel Theis had a higher BLK % in Boston than Jarrett Allen has for his career. He’s a good shot blocker.
I assume it is because we signed Theis for 2-3 mil less than Kelly O? Weird the numbers haven't come out yet.
Theis is a solid defender positionally who moves his feet and gets to the right spots. Decent physicality and takes up space in the middle. Great signing? Nah. But he is a meat shield who can play 20 minutes until Sengun supersedes him
https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndic...tracking-the-best-available-forwards.amp.html Scouting report when he came out. He was known as a good athlete, dirty work type player with long arms. Developed a respectable shot, or at least won’t leave him wide open
And it worked relatively well because the Celtics had long defenders like Jalen, Tatum isn't a slouch. At the end of the day they were just too small, even in the East.
Not really too odd imo. I've been calling it since the trade. I assume you get to meet the owner when you're on the team.
Yes, and even if Vanilla Theis wasn't a good shot blocker he would still be a good defender. As if Chuck Hayes or Draymond Green aren't good defenders because they are "short" and dOn'T bLoCk ShOtS! Theis just knows how to play and position himself, take charges, be disruptive, etc.. He is obviously not a star but a solid role player and is actually decent on offense as well. Will easily be a tradeable contract assuming we got him in the $9-$12 mil range and will be able to show our young bigs the right way to play D and be a pro.
Maybe, but looks like Theis is signing 4 years, but at 33M, so we're saving 4M and adding a year (if this is true).
