They need to do their due diligence.

Why? Journalists and reporters don’t even do that and you expect an entertainer to? Future’s audience wouldn’t even know the difference unless they were from Houston.

I personally listen to more K-pop rappers nowadays than I listen to newer rappers in the US anyways, despite having no idea what they are actually saying. The youngest rapper in my playlists that I actually listen to outside the occasional Kanye West hit is probably Lupe Fiasco. I find the older I become, the less I understand new music.

 

He seems very respected along his peer young superstars. They must have seen/worked out with him and the Real
Deal

 

He is just a 19 year old kid happy to be drafted by Houston grooving out to rap lyrics.

You’ll forgive him the first time he drops 30 points for Houston

Has anyone else here seen any of the Jalen Green documentaries on youtube? He's documented his journey to this point pretty extensively.

It will give you an idea of the type of person and competitor he is if you watch any of them. They are all highly entertaining.

 

Ya I saw one of the videos. He seems like a good kid who's really close to his mother and sister. They go everywhere with him as support. Seems to be raised well.

Jalen Green wasted no time signing that contract, he has to hit up the LV / Gucci stores to shop for his man purse.

 

His game reminds me of young MJ.

not saying he will get close to MJ status but his moves and his jumper with the athleticism really look just like young MJ.

I sure hope he gets good but that skill set is really similar pretty crazy.

I cant help but keep thinking about it. If he's really wired in that way where he will work obsessively to be the best/beat everyone else - the gym rat as most stories go...and he's already blessed with a lot of amazing physical tools -from his hops, his athleticism, and that first step - he could seriously be legendary.

Just watched that video of him and Cade facing off in high school and you can see how competitive Green is. It's funny because he's kind of got this laid back silly demeanor in interviews that makes it seem like he is kidding at times, but he has said several times that he knows he is the best and takes it as a slight when others don't think that.

Add to that if he is one of those guys who holds his teammates accountable with him, and he has this young team of high upside guys to influence and a few of these young guys follow his lead as the team alpha - you could really have the start of a phenomenal young core. Remember that Scottie Pippen was an all time great because Jordan wanted the best defender to guard him to make him better and Scottie benefitted from having to play the GOAT every day in practice where Jordan demanded he go hard.

....let's just say I'm excited about the start of Summer League.
