I was just wondering what it took to bocome one or be certified and how much it costs, what supplies i would need and so on. Is anyone here a notary and does it pay much?

Well, first you have to start small. You catch a few contractual agreements whilst they're being made, and you add your signature as a third party verification. Then you start with the bigger stuff: Drunken homo-statements ("Seriously dude, you totally said Tom Cruise was fine"), technological projections ("8-Tracks are gonna outlast cassettes"), and Super Bowl predictions ("Buffalo in a landslide"). Eventually, the scouts will notice you and you'll get your chance at the big leagues.

Note: I am not a notary so this is based on what I think

There is a small test you have to take but I don't think it is very difficult (making sure you understand what it is you are notarizing, etc). Groups (training classes) offer classes to prepare for it but I have heard they are not worth it.

Problem is most bankers (not tellers but business bankers) and attorneys are notaries. So it is not tough to find one. Additionally alot of companies have an administrative person who is a notary.

I think you would have a hard time making money off from being a notary, but I could be wrong. Maybe call a bank and ask how much they charge for notary servicesas a starting point.

Supplies - You need to buy a stamp which is indented (has to make ridges on whatever you are notarizing to know it is authentic). I hav eno idea how much it costs but I beleive that is the only supply.

I don't know the specifics of the process, but I know it costs $75 a year to be a notary in Texas.

    There are virtually no requirements.

All you need is 125 bucks and don't be a felon.

Any bonding company will sponsor you for money.

I am a notary and never had to take a test. I got to be one due to my previous job at a credit union as a loan officer.

What pasox said is right. I think you can call your local county clerk's office and talk to them if you are interested in pursuing it further.

And oh by the way, I don't ever charge anyone for using my notary services, which either makes me a nice guy or a fool.
