They don’t own anything
They are renters . Say you rent an apartment in Houston
Then a few months later the complex says they want you out
And will pay you $479k

that’s like nba second round money

Notice he doesn’t understand why the buyout is so large.
They have rent control apartments in San Francisco. If someone is paying $2000 in rent because landlords can’t raise the rent by large percentage .
If they kick out the resident or make them leave they can then charge market rate which is $4000 or higher

that’s messed up
