[Official] Astros @ Giants

Well, that was awful.

 

They hadn’t hit a HR in 5 games. Zack says…hold my beer.

 

We don't even have a pic of him in an Astros cap yet.....

 

New guy has to pitch first game

 

Aside from giving up 5, count 'em 5(!), homers today, Zack also sucked at hitting. For shame.

 

Of course starters were always welcome… but Javier is supposed to be the starter when the other starter isn’t going long (and he’s fully rested). There’s also the notion that of the starters traded, the Astros could not exceed what the other team offered… minus Scherzer who didn’t want to come here (and likely costs them their top prospects).

 

Maton's FB has some good funk to it. No idea about his breaking ball yet or if he can throw strikes.

 

On Javier, he doesn't warm up fast. I expect he pitches next inning.

 

Maton has pretty decent stuff… just needs to reign it in a little.

 

I can already see why we wanted him ....and why Cleveland was willing to give him away.

 

If he doesn't get us out of this inning, I'm going to start grumbling again about losing Straw . . .

 

This is rough to watch unless you like offense by the opposition.
