To be fair he is not ready to go yet, he is young just turned 19 days ago. He will need a lot of reps and get his defensive footwork solid and develop his shot. It's there, he is a 80% FT shooter on decent volume. I would G league him and let him tear it up. But the potential is unmistakable, you don't dominate and win MVP in a grown mans league as a teenager if you are not harboring something special. It's his vision and knowing how to move and leverage against opposing players. He has a feel for the game that is unique. Stone did good, he saw it too.
You are right. They have him in Houston now with Christopher and Jalen. Garuba is currently playing for Spain in the Olympics. All 4 are 19 years old! I think we are just going to come out swinging. Let’s Goooo!!!!
Agreed. Too far away from being a Jokic. Closer to DMo. Theoretically speaking, DMo would've still been either a starter or a rotation player for us if it weren't for injuries. But I still see DMo as the better player between DMo and Segun. DMo was taller, better shooter. Chances look high that we try to develop Segun a little bit and if he's not blowing up quickly enough, trade him in a package for a starter.
Protected Detroit first: 2022 (top 16), 2023 (top 18), 2024 (top 18), 2025 (top 13), 2026 (top 11) and 2027 (top 9). Will turn into a 2027 second if not conveyed. Protected Washington first: 2023 (top 14), 2024 (top 12), 2025 (top 10) and 2026 (top 8). Will turn into a 2026 and 2027 second if not conveyed. Seems unlikely that both will turn into SRPs. Wouldn't be surprising at all if they both convert to FRPs in the 10-20 range.
Actually just looking at the protections show that the earliest they could turn into a top 10 pick is 2026 and 2027 respectively. And that's only for the LAST year of protection for each pick, after which they turn into 2nd rounders. So the likelihood of either being top 10 is pretty low. More likely it's around a 2-4 year wait for a 15-20ish pick on each. That's just the cost of doing business. Actually trading 2 lesser (probably) 1st's that you have to wait several years to collect is a great deal! And you factor in who we actually traded for (top 5-10 prospect who fell) I think it's an ABSOLUTE STEAL!!!
It's only a "steal" if Sengun is who the Rockets (and slaps) say he is, namely not a guy with feet stuck to the court who almost never dunks despite being 6'10" and who Giannis would foul out in the first quarter. It's the biggest gamble I can recall.
And the odds of the future picks turning out to be what the Rockets hope Sengun will be are even more remote.
I disagree but you are being very fair in your arguing. I should note my Murphy bias as a Rice alumnus.
What a great first game! 15 pts, 15reb, 3ast, 4blks, 1stl. Incredible feel for the game. Underrated defense. Already looks like a steal at #16.
