Mitch Williams. He would go in at night and try to work on his control. Killed every cat in the Astrodome. There was just no place to hide.
But everyone told me our bullpen is a strength and we didn’t need to trade for Kimbrel or any of the big name relievers.
Right now every player in Houston’s bullpen is good. Stanek, Montero, Taylor, and Abreu have elite stuff but haven’t been consistent; they should be used in low leverage until they show they can be counted on. Raley has been very unlucky. Maton has been very good even with some bad luck. Javier, Graveman, Pressly, and Yimi Garcia have been money. Baez and James have looked pretty good in AAA. James will fit in that Stanek/Montero/Taylor/Abreu group, Baez may be another closer-level arm.
Paredes is the worst... He followed up his 2.769 WHIP in MLB this season with a 2.333 WHIP in AAA. He went from being the setup guy in 2020 to possibly a headcase that might never see MLB again.
