We took 4 guys in the 1st rd. The odds that all 4 will pan out is VERY slim. If 2 are worthy of keeping at the end of their rookie deals, that's a success. If we have 3 or 4 who are good/successful, financially, we'd need to identify the 2 best and trade the 2 best for cheaper assets.

It's pretty much financially impossible that we would re-sign all 4 players if they were decent to very good. Having 4 picks allows you to identify the 2 best to keep. Hopefully the other 2 guys have trade value that we can use for picks or role players (if we are starting to get into playoff contention by then).

If Green and Sengun both pan out and are cornerstones, then we can sell a lot to FA's in 2023 when we should have a TON of cap space. Wood, Green and Sengun + max FA is a possibility.

This doesn't even take into account the picks we'll get from Brooklyn. The future is very bright, if we can develop these young players well.

Just don't want these guys to get used to losing. We need to compete this year. 8th pick is fine.

Green - Integral part of the direction of his franchise.

Sengun - Offensively looks great, but I think it'll take most of the season for him to work on his defense. Once he's got that down and experienced in a few games, he'll be a quality role player and eventually teaming up with Wood.

Garuba - I think Stone will stash him overseas for another year - that buyout is crazy, but I believe in Rafa.

Christopher - I think he'll make the team, but will be at the far end of the bench with all the vets taking the minutes. I think they should send him down to the Vipers for experience.

He isn't wrong, OKC had to give up one MVP and then another one.

Garuba absolutely should stay in Spain for 2 years if possible. Let him organically expand his offensive game there (I'd MUCH rather him develop skills there playing more mins per game than here in the NBA/G-League). He's a rare European player who has much more advanced defense than offense. He's in the perfect place to develop his shooting, handle and passing.

Yaopao said to trade the 2 best players out of this stash for younger and cheaper players or is it just a really long day and I'm tired?

Everything I've heard is that Real Madrid and such teams don't really spend much time on young player development. It would have to be something he did on his own. Also, it would stink for him to develop a Euro-style offensive game and then have to adapt to a NBA style game after a few years. Might as well learn the habits he needs here sooner.

This will be another great thread to check back after 3 weeks into next season, especially when we will be on a 7 games losing streak.

We need to trade all 4 guys now. Every day is one day closer to when their rookie-scale contracts are over and we'll have to pay them big money. Just end it now.

    Usman Garuba: Dennis Rodman
    Josh Christopher: Ron Artest

Lol - trade the two that pan out???

listen let’s remove the veteran roadblocks and develop this group while tanking for a top 5 pick next year.

that should be the plan. Period

Maybe it's the post draft high, but I feel like Garuba, Sengun and JG will all pan out for us.
