Legit risk. But Click thought it was one worth taking. But I’m not that skeered of Diaz having to sit in the OF for a few games.
Losing Myles Straw will have zero impact on whether this offense is good enough to win a WS. It’s not like Myles Straw was ripping the cover off the ball.
The Astros just traded a capable starter in the middle of a pennant push and chose not to bring in a replacement. I really don't care if you think Meyers is all world, it isn't a move a team in this position makes. It's not like you had to trade Straw if you wanted to give Meyers or McCormick some run. On top of that, it certainly feels like w a little tinkering Click could've gotten a stronger return. It honestly feels like a desperation move made to save money. Click talked a lot about not worrying about the luxury tax for the right move - well come to find out there were a boatload of moves out there to make but after it was all said and done we ended up shedding salary. No way to feel anything but disappointment. Maybe Chaz and Meyers rake and if so I'll gladly eat crow but this leaves a sour taste in my mouth right now.

Getting Diaz more at bats is definitely a goo thing... at the very least this probably opens up more opportunity for him to get regular ABs. Still... if you're gonna trade Straw why not throw in a middle of the road prospect and shoot for a stronger return? Just seems like Click sold incredibly low.
If Chas and Meyers flop they'll go with Diaz. I don't know how much CF he's played but we know he can hit and if we have to give up a little D in CF so be it.
yep… and it took 50 games to get Bregman and Tucker comfortable. Had to send Tucker down first time up
It's August and we're in the middle of a title run. Generally not when you want to throw an unproven rookie out there. Imagine if Chas gets hurt. We're completely boned and for what? A below average bullpen arm
How bad would Chas and Meyers have to flop to pine away for the days of the .660 ops of Straw? Straw's entire value is his defense. Center fielders with at least 100 at bats, Straw ranks 41st in OPS right above Billy Hamilton.
In what way? Straw makes less than Maton. I knew all along it it was gonna be a big trade or no trade, they weren't gonna creep over the LT for a meh improvement.
