Didn't they clock Chas faster on the base paths? I guess he would be that guy.

Can they get rid of the 7 ERA guys on the bullpen?

Who do you think it is

If Leon wasn't hurt I would think they just want to get by until September and bring him up...but damn

    Agreed! Trade doesn't make sense.

Agreed, get rid of the dead weight so Dusty can't pitch them anymore. Would have worked itself out by the playoffs but the more ammo we have in the bullpen the better.

Anyone got a scouting report on Phil Baton and if he will be a good pitcher for us? What are his peripherals like? Looks like he gets a ton of strikeouts. Decent amount of walks which always makes me nervous.

It's Jake Meyers.... they have been gushing over him for some time.... he is hitting for power and his glove is definitely better.... Astros player evaluators love them some Jake Meyers. Crazy how confident that that are, they dealt their starting CF 10 minutes before the deadline and didn't blink. They are very confident in Meyers

You can choose one of 2 reactions:

“Click is an idiot!!! Traded away a super fast guy who didn’t suck for a scrub RP, and didn’t even add a good CF to replace him, just called up some scrub from AAA!!! Horrible!!!!!”

    -or-

“The Astros front office must be so confident in Jake Meyers as an everyday caliber CF that they were willing to trade their starting CF with 5 years of control at 10 minutes until the deadline. The RP they added must also have something they really really like.”

    Choose wisely.

If Maton was a lefty, I could at least try to make sense of this deal. But he's simply another Bryan Abreu. Huh!?

Thanks for the info. Let's hope Meyers has the same confidence. How's his girlfriend look? (reference from Money ball)

Jake Meyers is 25 years old? What am I supposed to do with that. Too Old

(I sound like the Rockets GARM when a 24 year old stud is too old to be with the team)

It's just weird. Couldn't they have just kept Straw and use him as a back up?. Give me a world series and I won't care about any of this.

I'll go with the second one...... they have privately gushed over Meyers for this whole season. They have praised the bat speed, the extension... they say he has the best glove in the entire system as well.... he is who they hoped Jake Marisnick would be. Still takes HUGE balls to do that, a lot of confidence.

That’s cool and all but I’m sure the team chemistry takes a hit with this trade. If they are so high on Meyers, they could still bring him up and have straw on the bench with Diaz, Castro, and McCormick
