It was literally for one protected future pick. We got their pick with no protections today, right now, for who I consider one of the best prospect bigs in the draft. I have been watching every tape of him and he plays with grit and aggression with an amazing feel for the game and fluid footwork at 18 years old. He’s big and has length. He has excellent mechanics for shooting and honestly I don’t even see him being a liability on defense. He’s only going to get stronger. This is a home run swing!!!

    Cheap for the value!
    But wanted Murphy there.

But he could be a master of the dirty work and offensive rebounding. If he's Scola, I'm thrilled.

Yes, with this many First Rd picks I guess I don't mind a project here or there.

I saw that with the Lamb and Royce White pks. Don't remind me!

But it saves Tilman money. Won't bring back Olynyk most likely.

The Piston pick was only useful to get Cade but since it didnt work there is not much point holding on to it. I like this trade by Stone. I like the direction that he is taking with roster construction.

What are stipulations on the Pistons pick? I realize they just picked number one, but my only concern is if we traded anything unprotected. I assume this has already been answered so I'm sorry, but we're on the clock soon and I don't wanna scroll.

Maybe we can get DMO to teach him some of those trademark sweeping hook shots... DD would be thrilled..

As I said in the post you quoted, I like the pick and the trade. And no I dont think those teams will be good, but they should be average or slightly below average at some point the next 4-5 years.

Washington pick protections are top 14 in 2023, top 12 in 2024, top 10 in 2025, and top 8 in 2026, before turning into second round picks.

Detroit pick protections are top 16 in 2022, top 18 in 2023 and 2024, top 13 in 2025, top 11 in 2026, and top 9 in 2027; becomes second-round pick.

This makes up for wasting the #2 pick

    Pistons:
    Protected 1-16 in 2022
    1-18 in 2023
    1-18 in 2024
    1-13 in 2025
    1-11 in 2026
    1-9 in 2027
If Detroit has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Detroit by 2027, then Detroit will instead convey its 2027 2nd round pick to Houston

    Wizards:
    Protected 1-14 in 2023
    1-12 in 2024
    1-10 in 2025
    1-8 in 2026
If Washington has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Houston by 2026, then Washington will instead convey its 2026 2nd round pick and 2027 2nd round pick

I get the feeling we will be seeing a lot more midrange pnr/pnp this upcoming season.

I did not see that one. Hollinger must have been vacationing in Turkey if he wrote him over Green.

People complained about these picks, however, as proven tonight, when you have FRPs, even if heavily protected, they still carry value.
