I've been alternating between three lists: Favorite Artist Catchup (I pick 10 artists and go through their discography in order, this is my second 10): Bruce (second half) DMX Brandi Carlile The Hold Steady A Tribe Called Quest Kathleen Edwards My Morning Jacket Outkast Waxahatchee Turnpike Troubadours I'm on 70-61 of Pitchfork's top 100 albums of the 70s. And about 15 albums into this 100 Essential Experimental Hip Hop Albums.
great list RM95 caught up on some recent indiecast pods over the weekend (and we are now in a hard lockdown for 7 days) they did an episode on 10 year anniversary on 2011 Bon Iver self titled second album, a bit stuck listened to that and also for emma forever and loads of live Bon Iver on youtube.... and of course Newport is on this weekend, so insanely jealous and remembering our visit in 2017, so Newport 2021 playlist of spotify is pretty good
I can tell you one thing I am definitely not listening to: The $50 Kanye listening party live stream for an album being released tonight …. But then sorry he’s going to push back the release date a month now… thanks for the 50 bucks. Any idiot that still supports this guy deserves to go broke. I guess he has learned to grift from the best.
The show won't air for a while, but Jon Batiste taped an Austin City Limits show earlier this week and was described by the show's producer as "one of the best shows I've ever seen on this stage." I'll have to look up some of his stuff, not sure how studio stuff could compare to the live spectacle: https://www.austin360.com/story/ent...-batiste-austin-city-limits-debut/8010724002/
New Jinjer... Like Vortex, I don't love it on first listen. Of course, I really like Vortex now, after hearing it 3 or 40 times. We'll see if that happens again. Tatiana looks fantastic though. This is peak Jinjer for me, goosebumps every time it gets to "Just the mention of your name". That and the climax of I Speak Astronomy.
